If you’re looking for an electric vehicle to get you from Sydney to Brisbane, the new Ford Mustang Mach-E Premium comes with a 91 kW/h battery with an estimated range of 600km. Google Maps tells me it’s only 910km. So with hundreds of changing options along the way, it’s one less obstacle to EV ownership.
Unfortunately with the current List Price of $91,665, it doesn’t make qualify for the recently introduced FBT exemption on electric vehicles which has caused a spike in interested and orders for salary packaging providers.
The noticeable thing with the Mustang Mach-E is the size. I got a close look at the 2023 AfMA Fleet Conference in Sydney, and while I was impressed with the exterior styling and driver’s cockpit, the rear seats were noticeably smaller than similar priced electric SUVs.
If squeezing baby seats, or teenagers, into the back seat isn’t a concern, then the iconic Mustang name plate should be enough to sway most novated lease buyers looking for a unique EV to park in their driveway.
