Mitsubishi Motors Australia Limited (MMAL) shared its ambitious future product strategy at its 2024 dealer conference, outlining plans to increase the number of models on offer by 2030 – consisting of both EV and hybrid options.
Addressing MMAL’s national dealer network, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation President and CEO, Takao Kato, shared that Australia is a high priority for the manufacturer.
“Australia is a core market for MMC, and it makes an important contribution to our global business,” Mr Kato said.
“We will offer not only battery electrics but also plug-in hybrids and hybrids, and introduce appropriate products that will meet the New Vehicle Efficiency Standard (NVES) set by the Australian government.”
The focus remains on volume, MMC’s Executive Officer, Koichi Namiki, confirmed when discussing the manufacturer’s future product strategy.
“As we approach the mid-point of this decade, it is important to share Mitsubishi Motors’ brand evolution and how this will underpin Australia’s future position as a key volume player for the next five years and beyond,” Mr Namiki said.
The MMAL future pathway, up to 2030, includes the following objectives:
- Progressive electrification through a blend of powertrains including hybrid, plug-in hybrid and battery electric
- New or completely refreshed products in multiple market segments
- Further strengthening of Triton’s product range and appeal
“MMAL is at a key point in its history, and today’s announcements confirm Mitsubishi Motors’ commitment to this market, via a strong product pathway to the end of the decade,” MMAL’s CEO, Shaun Westcott said.
“This includes delivering advanced powertrain technologies and a wider product choice, every model endowed with a unique spirit of adventure.”
Mr Westcott reiterated the importance dealers play in the success of the brand, endeavouring to support the Mitsubishi network throughout the transition.
“Our extensive, national dealer and service centre network enables Mitsubishi owners to explore more of Australia with confidence,” he said.
“We will continue to work closely with our dealer partners to ensure the network is geared up to support this exciting new era of Mitsubishi innovation.”
