Chery Australia has confirmed details about its first all-electric model, the Omoda E5, ahead of its local launch next month.
The EV will join the petrol-powered Omoda 5 in showrooms from September, offered in two trim grades, but pricing is yet to be revealed.
A base BX model and premium EX option are separated mostly by interior features, and both will be powered by the same single-motor powertrain. The setup produces 150kW/340Nm, with average consumption of 155Wh/km and driving range of up to 430km (WLTP). Chery also claims a 0-100km/h time of 7.6 seconds.
The Omoda E5 will also have a maximum towing capacity of 750kg, for fleet buyers needing to occasionally hitch a trailer.
Both variants come equipped with seven airbags, active and passive safety systems and in-cabin technology that includes dual 12.3-inch screens, wireless phone mirroring, and Sony sound system.
“We’re thrilled to introduce our first electric vehicle, a testament to our commitment to innovation and sustainability,” Chery Australia CEO, Lewis Lu.
“We’re proud to offer a vehicle that not only delivers outstanding performance and range but also helps reduce our carbon footprint. This launch is a significant milestone in our journey towards a greener and more sustainable future.”
The battery is covered by an eight-year/unlimited kilometre warranty, while the vehicle is backed by Chery’s seven-year/unlimited kilometre warranty, seven-year capped price servicing and up to seven years of roadside assistance.
