Citroen Australia has entered the electric vehicle market with the C5 X PHEV, which is now available for order with the first customer deliveries expected from Q4 this year.
The hybrid C5 X is priced from $73,990 plus on-road costs, with the manufacturer stating the model is “exclusively available via customer order, with each customer’s order placed with the factory” – suggesting it is offered under a direct order arrangement in Australia.
“We’re pleased to introduce an electrified model to the Citroen Australia range,” Citroen Australia Managing Director, Kate Gillis said.
“With Citroen’s commitment to comfort at the heart of the C5 X Plug-in Hybrid, this vehicle champions Citroen’s design ethos by offering customers tranquil electric driving.”
The C5 X hybrid produces 165kW of power and 360Nm of torque, utilising a 133kW 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine and 81kW electric motor, with drive sent through an eight-speed automatic transmission.
A 12.4kWh capacity lithium-ion battery offers an electric-only driving range of up to 60km, and can be charged with up to 3.7kW using the supplied mode two charging cable. According to Citroen, a domestic 10A plug (2.3kW) will charge the C5 X from zero to 100 per cent in just under six hours.
Inside, a windscreen-projected head-up display offers vital information and a 12-inch capacitive touch screen handles infotainment and 3D navigation, with all the usual smartphone mirroring functionality.
Citroen’s full suite of advanced safety technology is included, with autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, in-crash braking, post-collision braking, emergency braking assistance, long range blind spot detection, lane departure warning, active lane following assist, advanced driver attention alert, rear cross traffic alert and adaptive cruise with stop and go function.
The C5 X PHEV comes with a five-year, unlimited kilometre warranty, five-year roadside assistance, and five-year capped-price servicing package – with the first 100,00km/60 months of standard servicing coming to a total of $3,318.
