Foton Mobility Distribution, in concert with Pinnacle Travel Group, took a Foton Hydrogen Fuel Cell Bus (FCEV) to Rottnest Island in March.
The Hydrogen bus, powered by a 60kw Toyota/Sino-Hytec fuel cell, was on the island to demonstrate the benefits of clean, quiet public transport in the pristine environment of Rottnest Island, and supporting the WA Government’s ambition to become a Hydrogen powerhouse.
Founding Director of Pinnacle, Luke Crispin said that “the showcase and trial, whilst short, was part of the Group’s intent to investigate the introduction of zero emissions transport not only on Rottnest, but throughout its operations. The data that will be captured over the two days, running a 22km route around the Island, will be invaluable to us in making our plans for a broader adoption of low emissions transport vehicles”.
FMD CEO Neil Wang said, “The opportunity to partner with a major transport operator such as Pinnacle Travel Group, in such an iconic location, was too good for us to pass up”.
FMD Heavy Vehicle Sales Manager Iain Dorward added, “After running numerous ZEB trials and seeing two hydrogen buses in operation in Adelaide, we have no doubt these vehicles will be successful and return great efficiency and data over the two days on Rottnest.
“It’s always a breath of fresh air being able to work and partner with such great forward-thinking local businesses like Pinnacle Tours. Luke has a great vision and has pulled out all the stops to assist in making this demo possible.”
