Smart brand to return to Australia this year with two-model compact SUV range, plus high-performance Brabus-tuned versions, due here in Q3.
LSH Auto and Smart Automobile Co, a joint venture between Mercedes-Benz AG and Geely Holding Group, are bringing an exciting range of new German designed and engineered premium electric vehicles to Australian consumers.
Australia will receive the Smart #1 and Smart #3 compact SUV models, with a Brabus version of each also available, offering a range of up to 440km and pricing on par with “non-premium EV offerings of similar size”.
The sole retailer of the new smart range will be LSH Auto Australia, with showrooms in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane set to receive the models.
“LSH Auto shares a long, favourable history with Smart vehicles throughout the petrol vehicle era,” LSH Managing Director, John Good said.
“The addition of the smart EV range is a natural and exciting progression in offering customers the best premium motoring options across all available technologies.”
“We know there is a growing Australian demand for urban EV motoring. The opportunity presented by a German-designed premium EV was a perfect fit with our focus on delivering excellence at all levels.”
Full specifications and pricing will be announced in June, to coincide with the launch of a Smart Australia website, and orders are expected to open in July with the first deliveries slated for September.
Since launching its first product following a brand renewal in 2022, Smart has delivered nearly 100,000 units globally, with a market presence across China, Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, South Asia, Africa and Oceania.
