Hyundai has released the specifications and pricing on the all-new Hyundai Kona electric SUV. It comes with a more powerful motor and battery conditioning technology that will deliver a range of 500+ kilometres with the larger 64.8 kWh battery option.
One of the big issues for Fleet Managers to consider when planning a transition to electric cars is Whole of Life Costs (WOLC) compared to the equivalent petrol/diesel model. With a competitive Manufacturers List Price starting from $54,000, the all-new Kona electric SUV will challenge some popular ICE models.
One component that of the WOLC calculation that favours EVs is the servicing and maintenance costs. So when launching the new model, Hyundai have provided the service schedules and dealership service costs.
The first thing we noticed was the 24 month intervals. This is a long time between drinks for a fleet car. Fleet Managers will need to make sure driver’s are conducting daily checks, including tyre inspections and body condition, to ensure the cars remain safe as a workplace.
The actual cost per service is higher than the petrol version of the Kona which is $399 every 12 months or 15,000km. However over 60 months the electric Kona will cost $1,040 compared $1,995 for the Kona petrol. This is a saving of $955.
