In 2010, actor (Red Dwarf) and presenter (Scrapheap Challenge), Robert Llewellyn, launched a YouTube channel on ‘the future of energy and transport’. From humble beginnings the Fully Charged SHOW has established itself as ‘the world’s no.1 electric vehicle and clean energy show’, amassing a sizable global audience, regularly receiving 3 to 4 million monthly views. In 2018, the Fully Charged LIVE UK exhibition was born at the Silverstone F1 circuit. Not only has that show outgrown its original venue to become a 35,000-attendee event at Farnborough International, but it has also inspired subsequent events in Austin, San Diego, Vancouver, Harrogate and Amsterdam.
With a consistent audience of 5 to 6% in Australia, and with Sydney as the city with its 2nd largest audience (after London), it was inevitable that Fully Charged LIVE would come to New South Wales. In 2021, Fully Charged announced that its inaugural event would take place at the ICC in Darling Harbour, Sydney on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th March 2023, and here we are.
In 2012, after several notable knock-backs, the electric car industry started in earnest. A Californian start-up called Tesla, launched its Model S, which led in turn to the Model X, 3 and Y, and, as of last week Tesla announced its 4 millionth car manufactured. With the latest million being made in the last 7 months alone. Meanwhile in 2022, Tesla from the US, and BYD from China made 39% of all pure battery electric vehicles (BEVs) around the world, and a whole host of other progressive carmakers have started to scale up manufacturing capacity.
While electric vehicles, of all shapes and sizes, often provide the initial spark, we have seen consistently that those that buy them, are subsequently inspired to buy other cleaner, greener technologies. Whether it’s switching energy supplier, or managing energy consumption, generating and storing energy or electrifying heating and cooling, a consistent pattern is emerging. Fully Charged LIVE brings all of this together, under 1 roof.
At the Fully Charged SHOW it is our belief that between now and 2035, the energy and transport sectors will undergo an extraordinary transformation, away from combustion towards electrification. #StopBurningStuff is our mantra, and we believe that in this energy transition, Australia will positively transform itself from follower to leader. We are delighted to bring Fully Charged LIVE to Australia and play a small part in sparking people’s interest.
We are also delighted to confirm that Fully Charged LIVE Australia will return in 2024.
