Hyundai Motor Company has revealed its all-new NEXO fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV), a mid-size SUV with a range of more than 700km and towing capacity of 1000kg.
The second-generation model showcases Hyundai’s 27 years of fuel cell experience, featuring an advanced system that offers 190kW of power and a 0-100km/h time of 7.8 seconds.
Hyundai’s hydrogen fuel cell stack is capable of delivering a maximum gross power of 110kW, a 16 percent increase on the first-gen model, with a tank capacity of 6.69kg which takes just five minutes to fill.
The new NEXO uses sustainable materials throughout, including bio-process leather, bio PU leather, recycled PET fabric, linen fabric, bio plastic, bio TPO skin, bio paint, bio PU slab foam, and recycled automotive plastic waste.
Like Hyundai’s BEV models, the NEXO features a vehicle-to-load (V2L) function that provides power solutions both inside and outside the vehicle. Inside, an outlet on the centre console allows users to plug in home electronic devices and appliances, while an exterior V2L system enables the use of devices without the need for a separate connector.
The NEXO is suitably high-tech inside and out, with advanced features like an AI-powered voice assistant, digital centre mirror and fingerprint recognition system. Of course, it also features a full suite of safety technology.
Hyundai has confirmed the NEXO is coming to global markets later this year, but has not indicated whether it will be available for purchase in Australia.
