Mercedes-Benz is expanding its electric vehicle range with the all-new C-Class electric, combining a claimed driving range of up to 753 kilometres with rapid charging and a comprehensive suite of driver assistance technology.
The C 400 4MATIC electric brings a familiar nameplate into the battery electric market, offering organisations another option when reviewing premium executive vehicles.
Built around a dedicated electric architecture, the sedan combines a 94kWh usable battery with dual electric motors and all-wheel drive. For fleet managers, its blend of range, charging capability and luggage space warrants consideration for metropolitan and regional driving requirements.
Longer range and faster charging
Mercedes-Benz lists a WLTP-tested range of up to 753km, depending on specification, and energy consumption of 16.1kWh/100km.
The vehicle’s 800-volt electrical architecture supports DC charging at up to 330kW. Under ideal conditions, using a compatible high-power charger, Mercedes-Benz says it can add up to 325km of WLTP-tested range in approximately 10 minutes.
Actual range and charging performance will depend on operating conditions, vehicle specification and available infrastructure.
Mercedes-Benz Navigation with Electric Intelligence calculates routes and charging stops using factors including battery charge, traffic conditions and driving style. It can also prepare the battery temperature ahead of a DC charging stop.
For fleet drivers travelling beyond their usual routes, this integration could simplify journey planning and help make charging stops more predictable.
Performance and practical storage
The dual-motor drivetrain produces up to 360kW and 800Nm, accelerating the C 400 4MATIC electric from 0–100km/h in 4.0 seconds.
A two-speed transmission on the rear axle supports acceleration at lower speeds and efficient motorway operation, while the 4MATIC system distributes power between the front and rear axles.
Luggage capacity includes a 470-litre rear compartment and a separate 101-litre front boot. The additional front storage provides somewhere to carry charging cables without using space needed for work equipment or overnight bags.
Standard equipment includes 20-inch AMG alloy wheels, AMG Line styling, the Night Package and heat and noise-insulating acoustic glass.
Driver assistance comes standard
The standard MB.DRIVE assistance package includes adaptive cruise control, Blind Spot Assist Plus, lane-keeping assistance, speed-limit warnings and Traffic Sign Assist.
Brake Assist, evasive steering assistance and exit warnings provide additional support. A 360-degree camera system, parking sensors and automated parking assistance help drivers manoeuvre in confined spaces.
A standard head-up display places key driving information within the driver’s line of sight.
For fleets, these features form part of the vehicle assessment alongside driver familiarisation, visibility, ergonomics and suitability for the intended task.
A connected executive cabin
The standard MBUX Superscreen combines a 10.25-inch driver display with a 14-inch central touchscreen and a separate 14-inch front-passenger display.
The Mercedes-Benz Operating System brings together navigation, charging, infotainment, assistance and comfort functions, while supporting over-the-air software updates.
Heated, electrically adjustable front seats include memory settings and lumbar support. An air filtration system helps reduce exposure to fine dust and pollen, while acoustic glass contributes to cabin comfort.
The SKY CONTROL panoramic roof features nine individually adjustable transparency segments, allowing occupants to control light levels across different parts of the cabin.
Optional equipment includes AIRMATIC air suspension and rear-axle steering, which is designed to improve manoeuvrability at lower speeds and stability at higher speeds.
Matching the vehicle to the fleet task
The electric C-Class broadens the choice for organisations electrifying premium passenger fleets.
Its claimed range could suit drivers with longer daily travel requirements, while rapid charging capability may support regional journeys where compatible infrastructure is available.
