Dubai Police has added the 1,197hp Yangwang U8 to its luxury tourist patrol fleet, bringing emergency flotation capability and on-the-spot turning technology to some of the city’s busiest visitor precincts.
The high-performance SUV was unveiled at the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2026) at Dubai World Trade Centre, in partnership with Al-Futtaim Automotive Group, Yangwang’s exclusive distributor in the UAE.
Capable of accelerating from 0–100km/h in a claimed 3.6 seconds, the U8 joins a police fleet already recognised internationally for its collection of luxury and performance vehicles.
Its most unusual feature, however, is its emergency flotation capability. Designed for emergency situations involving flooding or deep water, the system allows the vehicle to remain afloat and move through water.
The U8 can also complete a 360-degree rotation on the spot, demonstrating manoeuvring technology that allows it to turn without travelling forwards or backwards.
For Dubai Police, the vehicle’s role extends beyond showcasing automotive technology. It will support police visibility and public engagement at major attractions, including Burj Khalifa, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard and Jumeirah Beach Residence.
Tourists and residents will be able to approach officers for assistance, visitor information and details about police community services.
Brigadier Saeed Al Hajri, Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigation at Dubai Police, officially unveiled the vehicle and welcomed the continuing cooperation with Al-Futtaim Automotive Group.
He said the addition reflected Dubai Police’s commitment to modernising its fleet through advanced automotive technologies and environmentally friendly mobility solutions.
The deployment highlights the specialised purpose of Dubai’s luxury tourist patrol fleet. Alongside their policing presence, the vehicles act as highly visible public engagement tools, creating opportunities for officers to connect with visitors.
