Origin customers that subscribe to the EV subscription plan, will also get access to Origin’s EV Energy Plan which provides eligible customers with five hours of free energy between 10am and 3pm, and off-peak energy rates between 1am and 6am.
The plan will be available exclusively to eligible customers who sign up to the subscription plan, along with customers who purchase a smart EV charger from Origin and to Audi e-tron customers as part of a new partnership between both companies.
The EV Energy Plan is designed to help encourage EV owners to charge their vehicles when energy demand across the National Electricity Market (NEM) is lowest and wholesale energy prices are cheapest, instead of charging during the evening peak when wholesale prices are more expensive.
Other initiatives from Origin include:
- Origin is selling Smart EV Chargers that customers can use to help automate the charging of their vehicles to make the most of the EV Energy Plan. Smart chargers can also be plugged into Loop, Origin’s Virtual Power Plant, so customers can enjoy further benefits.
- A partnership with public charging network JOLT where Origin will supply 100% Green Power to match the electricity consumed at JOLT’s network of charging stations. Origin customers who use JOLT’s chargers can opt to pay for the charging on their Origin electricity bill to make it convenient for customers to manage the cost of their charging both at home and on the road.
- A partnership with Audi which will offer Audi e-tron owners with access to the Origin 360 EV Energy Plan with 100% GreenPower for 12 months combined with a special discount on smart EV chargers, to provide Audi EV owners with smarter and cleaner solutions to charge their EVs.
“Origin now has a range of solutions to support a wide range of customers in their transition to EVs including small and large business customers, residents in apartment complexes and home owners,” added Ms Le. “We can help people get in their first EV affordably and help them get the most out of it with charging solutions at their home, office or while on the road.”
Over the past two years, Origin 360 EV has helped a range of businesses including Healius and Uniting Care NSW to start transitioning their commercial fleets to electric cars, while working with a number of body corporates and strata managers to provide charging infrastructure and EV car share services for tenants.
“Transport remains the third highest emitting sector in Australia, and so the electrification of transport will play a critical role in Australia achieving its ambition to decarbonise the economy towards a long-term goal to be net zero by 2050 or sooner,” said Ms Le.
