Geely Auto Australia’s Starray EM-i plug-in hybrid SUV has been awarded the maximum five-star rating by ANCAP SAFETY, reinforcing the growing safety credentials of Geely’s local line-up.
The Starray EM-i achieved strong results across all assessment categories, recording 90 per cent for Adult Occupant Protection and 87 per cent for Child Occupant Protection. Scores of 86 per cent for Vulnerable Road User Protection and 82 per cent for Safety Assist rounded out the overall five-star outcome .
For Fleet Managers, the result provides an independent benchmark at a time when safety performance is increasingly linked to whole-of-life cost, duty-of-care obligations, and risk management frameworks. Five-star ANCAP ratings remain a key reference point for many organisational fleet policies, particularly for passenger and light SUV segments.
Broad safety coverage as standard
Both Complete and Inspire variants of the Starray EM-i are fitted with a comprehensive suite of active and passive safety technologies as standard. These include seven airbags (front, side, curtain and centre), autonomous emergency braking, adaptive and intelligent cruise control, lane keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert with braking, collision mitigation systems front and rear, and a surround-view 360-degree camera.
Additional features such as occupant detection alerts, driver fatigue monitoring, traffic sign recognition and pedestrian alerts support safer operation in urban and mixed-use driving environments commonly associated with business and government fleets.
Relevance for fleet decision-makers
As plug-in hybrid vehicles continue to play a transitional role in emissions-reduction strategies, safety performance remains a non-negotiable baseline for many organisations. For fleets with limited charging infrastructure or mixed duty cycles, PHEVs like the Starray EM-i are often assessed alongside conventional hybrids and internal-combustion alternatives.
The five-star ANCAP result places the Starray EM-i in alignment with common fleet safety requirements, allowing Fleet Managers, Sustainability Managers and Finance Managers to focus evaluation on operational fit, emissions outcomes and total cost of ownership without compromise on occupant or road-user protection.
Geely Auto Australia says the result reflects its broader commitment to safety and follows the five-star rating achieved by its first local model, the Geely EX5 EV SUV .
