Jaecoo Australia has confirmed full specifications for the all-electric J5 EV, which will arrive in local showrooms in January 2026 as a single, highly equipped Track variant.
Positioned as a compact electric SUV with lifestyle and fleet appeal, the J5 EV brings a generous standard specification, strong real-world range and some genuinely unique features aimed at everyday usability — including a pet-friendly interior that stands out in a crowded EV market.
One variant, fully loaded
Rather than offering a complex range walk, Jaecoo is simplifying the buying decision with a single specification that includes features many competitors reserve for higher grades.
Standard highlights on the J5 EV Track include:
- 18-inch aero alloy wheels with Continental tyres
- Power tailgate
- V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) capability*
- Remote start with air-conditioning memory
- LED projector headlights with DRLs
- Acoustic glass front doors
- Glass roof with powered sunshade
- Dual-zone climate control

For fleet and novated lease buyers, the single-variant approach simplifies procurement, specification control and driver acceptance.
Electric performance without the anxiety
Under the bonnet, the J5 EV uses a single front-mounted electric motor producing 155kW and 288Nm, delivering brisk on-road performance with a 0–100km/h time of 7.7 seconds.
Efficiency is a strong point, with energy consumption rated at 143Wh/km, contributing to a WLTP driving range of up to 402km. DC fast charging enables a 30–80 per cent recharge in just 28 minutes, making the J5 suitable for both metropolitan fleet duties and longer regional trips.
A 750kg non-braked towing capacity also adds flexibility for light-duty commercial and lifestyle use.
Designed with lifestyle — and fleets — in mind
While compact in footprint, the J5 EV leans into a rugged SUV design language, featuring an EV-specific grille with active aero elements, slimline lighting, a rear light bar with Jaecoo badging and a clean, modern profile.
Inside, the minimalist cabin layout prioritises functionality, with most vehicle systems integrated into the large central touchscreen. The silicone-based, antibacterial synthetic leather is wear-resistant and easy to clean — a practical benefit not just for pet owners, but also for fleets managing vehicle condition across multiple drivers.
Safety and ownership confidence
Safety technology is comprehensive, with seven airbags supported by a full suite of active systems including Autonomous Emergency Braking, Emergency Lane Keeping, Adaptive Cruise Control and Forward Collision Warning.
Backing the product is Jaecoo’s 8-year unlimited-kilometre vehicle warranty, 8 years of capped-price servicing, and an 8-year unlimited-kilometre battery warranty — credentials that will resonate strongly with whole-of-life-cost-focused fleet buyers.
Pricing and availability
The Jaecoo J5 EV Track will land in Australian dealerships from January 2026. Pricing has not yet been announced and will be confirmed closer to launch.
For fleets and novated lease customers seeking a well-specified, easy-to-manage electric SUV with genuine day-to-day practicality, the J5 EV shapes as a compelling new entrant to watch.
