Evie Networks is gearing up for a busy Easter long weekend, anticipating more than 10,000 electric vehicle (EV) drivers will turn to our charging stations for power. This projection follows last year’s Christmas period, which saw 8,000 drivers utilising Evie’s services. The last six months have seen the network expand significantly, with more than 60 new sites and 200 charging plugs added to accommodate growing demand.
With the holiday rush in mind, we advise EV owners to plan their charging sessions ahead of the peak times, recommending an earlier slot in the week rather than waiting until the Thursday just before the long weekend. This advice comes as particular locations, especially key sites along the NSW Highway such as Cameron Park, Taree and Macksville, as well as regional Victorian spots like Wangaratta and Lakes Entrance, are expected to experience higher traffic.
Head of Public Charging at Evie Networks, Bernhard Conoplia said, “I’ve been closely monitoring our anticipated usage patterns, especially during the peak holiday periods.”
This insight really highlights how crucial it is for EV drivers to think ahead and plan their charging sessions strategically to avoid unnecessary delays.
Evie is also trialling ‘busy times’ in the app so that drivers have visibility of how busy a site is and the best time to charge. This is not available at all sites (see site list below).
