Fleet managers in businesses and councils across New South Wales now have another opportunity to save money and reduce emissions, with the latest round of NSW Government Electric Vehicle (EV) Fleets Incentive funding now open.
The EV Fleets Incentive program provides funding to eligible organisations to assist with the purchase of battery electric vehicles and smart chargers, helping to close the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) gap between electric vehicles and traditional fleet vehicles.
This latest round of funding is targeted at organisations operating fleets of at least 21 vehicles. To be eligible, applicants must commit to funding 11 or more new battery electric vehicles. A total of $6 million is available to support NSW businesses and councils in making the switch to cleaner, more sustainable fleet options.
For smaller businesses, or organisations looking to trial EVs before committing to a broader rollout, additional support is available. There is still $10.2 million available in kick-start funding, offering a fantastic opportunity to start transitioning to electric. Vehicle incentives start at $5,000 per vehicle and can increase up to $20,000 depending on eligibility, while smart charger incentives range from $4,000 to $8,000 per charger.
Funding is available for eligible businesses who register new vehicles and purchase chargers between 12 November 2024 and 10 June 2025. It is important to act quickly, as funding will be distributed on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
Increased incentives for EVs and charging infrastructure are available for a limited time only, making now the perfect time for fleet managers to plan their transition to electric vehicles and take advantage of significant financial support.
Organisations interested in applying, or seeking further information, are encouraged to contact the EV Fleets Incentive team via email at electric.fleets@environment.nsw.gov.au.
Switching to electric vehicles is not just good for the environment – with the NSW Government’s help, it’s now good for your bottom line too.
