Hyundai has released the specifications and pricing for Santa Fe Hybrid, which will be available form November in Australian.
In a first for a Hyundai large SUV, Santa Fe Hybrid will introduce a turbocharged petrol/electric hybrid powertrain that delivers a compelling combination of dynamic performance and fuel efficiency.
The potent and economical 1.6-litre T-GDi HEV powertrain teams with a six-speed automatic and all-wheel drive (AWD). The Hybrid will be offered alongside continuing 3.5-litre MPi V6 petrol 2WD and 2.2-litre CRDi turbo-diesel AWD powertrains.
A new 6-seater option for Hybrid Highlander variant brings a pair of second-row captain’s chairs, offering more interior flexibility to suit a range of lifestyles.
Efficiency-enhancing aero type machined-face 19-inch alloy wheels give Elite and Highlander Hybrid variants a striking look to set them apart.
“The addition of Santa Fe Hybrid, and a new six-seater option, brings renewed appeal in this latest evolution of our ever-popular large SUV,” Hyundai Motor Company Australia Chief Executive Officer, Ted Lee said.
“A favourite of Australian families, Santa Fe continues to deliver an alluring combination of style, space, luxury and technology, now with the performance and efficiency benefits of a hybrid powertrain,” he said.
Santa Fe Range Overview
Santa Fe continues its four-grade trim line-up, with petrol V6 and turbo-diesel powertrains offered across the range, and the new petrol/electric Hybrid powertrain available for Elite and flagship Highlander variants.
POWERTRAIN OVERVIEW
New Smartstream G1.6 Turbo Hybrid
At the heart of Santa Fe Hybrid is the dynamic combination of a new 1.6-litre T-GDi Smartstream engine and a 44.2kW electric motor, which draws power from a 1.49kWh lithium-ion polymer battery.
The petrol/electric hybrid system seamlessly delivers muscular combined outputs of 169kW and 350Nm, while maximising efficiency and minimising CO2 emissions.
As well as providing a smooth, quiet and eco-friendly driving experience, Santa Fe Hybrid produces more power than the 2.2 CRDi, greater torque than the 3.5 MPi (across a broader rev range), while using less fuel on the official combined cycle.
The hybrid powertrain is paired with a newly developed 6-speed automatic transmission designed to further enhance efficiency.
