BYD Australia has officially confirmed pricing and specifications for its new ATTO 1 and ATTO 2 models, signalling a major milestone in the democratisation of electric mobility. With the ATTO 1 starting from just $23,990 plus on-road costs and the ATTO 2 from $31,990 plus ORC, these are among the most affordable battery-electric vehicles ever offered in Australia.
For Fleet Managers, that’s a game-changer. The arrival of genuine sub-$25,000 EVs opens the door for fleets to electrify without the big capital outlay that has so far limited adoption. It’s also a wake-up call to review fit-for-purpose selection criteria — not every job needs a dual-cab ute when a compact, zero-emission runabout will do the job for a fraction of the cost.
BYD ATTO 1 — Compact, Connected and City-Ready
Known overseas as the Dolphin Mini and Seagull, the ATTO 1 brings BYD’s proven Blade Battery and e-Platform 3.0technology to the smallest and most affordable member of its lineup. Designed for urban environments, it’s a nimble hatchback that prioritises efficiency, connectivity, and safety.

| ATTO 1 Essential | 30 kWh | 65 kW | 175 Nm | 220 km | 11.1 s | $23,990 |
| ATTO 1 Premium | 43.2 kWh | 115 kW | 220 Nm | 310 km | 9.1 s | $27,990 |
- Charging: DC 10–80% in ~30 minutes; 11 kW AC at home
- Dimensions: 3,990 mm L × 1,720 mm W × 1,590 mm H
- Boot Space: 308–1,037 L
- Kerb Weight: 1,294–1,390 kg
With its tight 4.95 m turning circle, V2L (vehicle-to-load) functionality, and Over-The-Air updates, the ATTO 1 is tailor-made for inner-city councils, utilities, and car-share operators looking to introduce low-emission pool vehicles.
BYD ATTO 2 — Spacious SUV for Everyday Adventure
The ATTO 2 sits above the ATTO 1 as a compact crossover, delivering greater interior space, range, and performance — while keeping the entry price accessible.
| Variant | Battery | Power | Torque | Range (WLTP) | 0-100 km/h | Price (plus ORC) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ATTO 2 Dynamic | 51.3 kWh | 130 kW | 290 Nm | 345 km | 7.9 s | $31,990 |
| ATTO 2 Premium | 51.3 kWh | 130 kW | 290 Nm | 345 km | 7.9 s | $35,990 |
- Charging: DC 10–80% in ~39 minutes; 8.2 h AC 0–100%
- Dimensions: 4,310 mm L × 1,830 mm W × 1,675 mm H
- Boot Space: 380–1,320 L
- Kerb Weight: 1,555–1,590 kg
Like the ATTO 1, the ATTO 2 runs BYD’s Blade Battery and 8-in-1 electric powertrain, with local suspension and ADAS calibration tuned for Australian roads. Every model comes standard with BYD’s DiLink infotainment, DiPilot driver-assist suite, and OTA software updates.
Fleet Impact: EVs Without the Price Pain
For fleets, these two models could be the turning point. At pricing comparable to entry-level petrol hatchbacks and crossovers, the total cost of ownership gap between EVs and ICE vehicles effectively disappears. Lower running costs, reduced maintenance, and exemption from fuel volatility further strengthen the case.
Fleet Managers can now electrify short-range tasks, pool vehicles, or service runs without breaking budget — while reducing emissions and meeting sustainability targets. It’s also an opportunity to challenge traditional purchasing patterns: choosing smaller, purpose-built vehicles that meet operational needs without excess capacity.
On Sale Soon
The ATTO 1 and ATTO 2 arrive in Australian dealerships this December, joining BYD’s fast-expanding local lineup — including the ATTO 3, SEAL, DOLPHIN, SHARK 6, SEALION 6, and SEALION 7.
BYD Australia Chief Operating Officer Stephen Collins summed it up best:
“The ATTO 1 and ATTO 2 represent the next step in BYD’s vision for accessible, premium electric mobility for Australian drivers. Each model reflects our commitment to combining technology, design, and efficiency, tailored for local drivers and conditions.”
With this pricing, the EV transition just became a whole lot easier — and a lot harder to ignore.
