Chery Australia has announced that its OMODA 5 range including the new E5 electric vehicle has achieved a 5-star safety rating from ANCAP SAFETY in the latest round of assessment. The Omoda E5 model was released in October and this announcement follows on from the 5-star ANCAP safety rating achieved by both the TIGGO 7 Pro and TIGGO 8 Pro Max.
The 5-star ANCAP safety rating is confirmation of Chery’s commitment to excellence in automotive safety, highlighting its comprehensive safety design and reinforcing the commitment to customer safety.
The Omoda 5 scored 87% for Adult Occupant Protection, 88% Child Occupant Protection and 83% Safety Assist, based on testing of the Omoda 5 and additional technical information provided to ANCAP. The Omoda E5 carries through the 5-star rating following the conduit of additional tests – including frontal offset and oblique pole crash tests, which were undertaken to confirm its safety performance and the integrity of its high voltage battery.
Lewis Lu, Chief Executive Officer, Chery Australia stated, “Our commitment to safety has always been at the core of what we do, and this 5-star safety rating is a testament to Chery’s engineering and technical prowess. We are honoured to receive this recognition, and we will continue to push the boundaries to ensure the highest standards for our customers. Thank you for trusting us as we strive to make safety our top priority every single day.”
The Omoda E5 is available in two variants (BX, EX), offering an array of features that give the driver and passengers a premium experience, with pricing commencing from $42,990 plus on-road costs.
