Hyundai has refreshed its electric SUV line-up for 2026, simplifying the IONIQ 5 range while adding new convenience technology across the board. The updated range is available now, with pricing starting from $76,200 (MLP), and is aimed squarely at buyers who want less complexity and more usable tech in their EV decision-making .
A simpler line-up for 2026
One of the biggest changes for 2026 is a major rationalisation of the range. The IONIQ 5 line-up has been reduced from 14 variants down to just three core grades: IONIQ 5, Elite and N Line Premium. At the top of the range, the high-performance IONIQ 5 N has also been simplified to a single variant, now fitted as standard with a Vision Roof.
For fleet buyers and novated lease customers, this trimmed range should make specification decisions faster and reduce the risk of ordering vehicles that don’t quite match operational needs.
Digital Key 2.0 becomes standard
Every 2026 IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 5 N now includes Hyundai Digital Key 2.0 as part of the Bluelink connected services suite. The system allows drivers to lock, unlock and start the vehicle using a compatible smartphone or smartwatch.
Depending on the device, access can be via NFC tap or hands-free ultra-wideband (UWB), and the Digital Key can be shared with up to 15 other compatible devices. Importantly for business use, the system does not require a mobile network signal to operate and can still function even if the phone battery is flat (device compatibility applies) .
One battery, broad capability
Across the standard IONIQ 5 range, Hyundai has standardised on an 84kWh battery, providing consistent range and performance regardless of trim level.
Rear-wheel drive versions deliver up to 570km of WLTP range on 19-inch wheels, while the all-wheel drive N Line Premium offers 495km. The IONIQ 5 N pairs the same 84kWh battery with a dual-motor AWD system producing up to 448kW in boost mode and a WLTP range of 448km .
For fleets, this consistency helps simplify whole-of-life cost modelling, charging planning and driver education.
Updated naming and equipment
Hyundai has also aligned IONIQ 5 naming with the rest of its local passenger vehicle range. The former Dynamiq grade becomes Elite, while Epiq is rebadged as N Line Premium.
The flagship IONIQ 5 N carries over a number of enhancements introduced in the MY25 update, including Intelligent Front Lighting System headlights, a haptic feedback steering wheel, upgraded N Drift Optimiser Pro functionality and revised N Active Sound system logic.
Interior choice has also been streamlined, with a black interior now standard across the range in response to customer demand.
Pricing and servicing certainty
Manufacturer’s List Pricing for the 2026 range spans from $76,200 for the entry IONIQ 5 RWD to $115,000 for the IONIQ 5 N. Pre-paid service plans remain competitive, with 24- and 48-month options available across all powertrains, supporting predictable running costs for both fleets and salary-packaged drivers .
What it means for fleet and novated buyers
The 2026 update is less about dramatic hardware changes and more about usability. Fewer variants, a single battery size, standard Digital Key technology and aligned naming all point to Hyundai making the IONIQ 5 easier to specify, order and manage.
For Fleet Managers focused on reducing admin overhead and improving driver experience, and for novated lease buyers looking for a well-equipped EV without option overload, the 2026 IONIQ 5 range is a more straightforward proposition than ever.
According to Hyundai Motor Company Australia, the changes are designed to deliver a cleaner, more appealing EV offering while retaining the strengths that have made IONIQ 5 a consistent performer in the Australian market .
