Audi is preparing a comprehensively upgraded Q4 e-tron for Australia, with more driving range, faster charging, a redesigned digital cabin and expanded safety technology heading the changes for 2027.
The refreshed Q4 e-tron will arrive in Australia during the first half of 2027 in SUV and Sportback body styles, with rear-wheel-drive and quattro all-wheel-drive powertrains.
Audi says the update significantly strengthens its compact premium electric offering, with improvements spanning efficiency, charging performance, connectivity, safety and interior technology.
Audi Australia Director Jeff Mannering said the new models would provide a stronger gateway into the brand’s electric vehicle range.
“The new Audi Q4 e-tron range showcases the brand’s leading technology, connectivity and high levels of appointment in the compact, premium segment, and represent an even more compelling gateway to the brand’s all-electric lineup.”
More range and faster charging
A new 150kW rear-wheel-drive model becomes the starting point for the Q4 e-tron range.
Its single electric motor produces 150kW and 350Nm, while a 63kWh battery, with 59kWh usable capacity, supports DC fast charging at up to 160kW.
Audi says the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in as little as 27 minutes.
The bigger step comes with the Q4 e-tron quattro.
New electric motors deliver a combined output of 250kW, helping the quattro accelerate from zero to 100km/h in 5.4 seconds.
Driving range reaches 494km WLTP for the SUV and 509km for the Sportback.
Maximum DC charging capacity for the 82kWh battery, with 77kWh usable capacity, has also increased from 175kW to 185kW.
Despite the larger battery, Audi says a 10 to 80 per cent recharge can still be completed in 27 minutes. Battery preconditioning can be activated automatically or manually to help deliver optimal charging performance.
New digital cabin takes centre stage
One of the most obvious changes is inside.
The Q4 e-tron adopts Audi’s latest digital stage architecture, combining a 12.8-inch MMI navigation touchscreen with an 11.9-inch Audi virtual cockpit plus display.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported, while dual cooled inductive smartphone charging pads are now standard.
Audi connect plus also brings expanded connected navigation, infotainment and remote vehicle functionality.
Quattro models can go a step further with an optional 12-inch front passenger display — the largest screen currently offered in an Audi.
It gives the passenger access to navigation, media and entertainment functions, while the display is masked from the driver’s view when the vehicle is moving to minimise distraction.
Mannering said the combination of charging, efficiency and cabin technology was a significant part of the Q4 e-tron’s appeal.
“With greater efficiency and faster charging capabilities, along with a new interior design that features the digital stage and the availability of a passenger-side front screen for the first time in the segment, the Q4 e-tron range punches well above its weight in terms of its technological offering and high levels of appointment.”
Safety technology expands across the range
Driver assistance has also received considerable attention.
Standard equipment includes adaptive cruise assist plus with emergency assist, side assist with exit warning, front and rear cross-traffic assist, swerve and turn assist, front emergency brake assist and proactive occupant protection.
A 3D 360-degree camera system is now standard across the Q4 e-tron range.
Audi has also added trained parking and reverse assist. The latter can take over steering duties while retracing the vehicle’s previous path for up to 50 metres — potentially useful when navigating tight car parks, narrow streets or confined driveways.
Quattro models add further chassis and technology upgrades including Audi drive select, progressive steering, selectable damper control and an augmented-reality head-up display.
Sharper design inside and out
The technology upgrade is accompanied by refreshed exterior styling and lighting.
The rear-wheel-drive Q4 e-tron receives Matrix LED headlights with digital daytime running lights, while quattro versions gain a full S line exterior treatment with redesigned front and rear bumpers, a revised Singleframe grille and 20-inch Audi Sport alloy wheels.
Inside, quattro models add S line Sport front seats, a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, black headlining and stainless-steel pedals.
Across the range, Audi is combining the updated digital experience with leather-appointed seating, heated and electrically adjustable front seats, three-zone climate control and ambient interior lighting.
A stronger Q4 e-tron proposition
For Australian EV buyers, the changes make the Q4 e-tron a substantially different proposition from the model it replaces.
Longer driving range in the quattro variants, higher charging speeds, a more sophisticated digital cabin and broader standard safety technology strengthen the vehicle’s credentials in an increasingly competitive premium EV market.
There is also greater differentiation between the rear-wheel-drive and quattro models, allowing buyers to choose between a more efficiency-focused Q4 e-tron and the substantially more powerful all-wheel-drive version.
Both body styles will reach Australia in the first half of 2027, with the quattro models already available to order through Audi’s dealer network.
