The new IM5 and IM6 from IM Presented by MG Motor have officially received a 5-star ANCAP safety rating, confirming their status as premium electric vehicles that deliver safety, intelligence, and performance in equal measure.
Designed for the smart-motoring era, the IM range features a digital chassis that centralises control across four key systems: steering, braking, suspension, and electric drive. This technology not only enhances responsiveness but also ensures a smoother, safer driving experience — offering tighter manoeuvrability at low speeds and greater stability during high-speed lane changes or emergency manoeuvres.
“The IM5 and IM6 set a new benchmark in attainable luxury vehicles, combining AI-enhanced engineering, exhilarating performance and elegant design, now with 5-star ANCAP safety credentials,” said Peter Ciao, Chief Executive Officer, MG Motor Australia. “The response so far has shown that Australian drivers are ready for the future, and IM is the brand to deliver it.”
The 5-star safety rating recognises excellent protection for drivers, passengers, and pedestrians, with the IM range joining Australia’s safest new electric vehicles. Inside, the IM5 and IM6 continue MG’s push into the premium segment, featuring luxurious interiors, rapid charging capability, and advanced intelligent systems that redefine what “affordable luxury” means for Australian motorists.
As MG celebrates its centenary, the launch of IM Presented by MG Motor marks a bold evolution for the brand. IM (Intelligence in Motion) is a joint venture between SAIC, ZJ Hi Tech and Alibaba, created to combine digital intelligence with refined vehicle design. The IM5 and IM6 are the first of this new generation — representing MG’s global commitment to innovation and electrification.
