Škoda has confirmed that its new-generation Kodiaq large SUV will soon offer a plug-in hybrid option, bringing a combination of practicality, performance and efficiency that will appeal to both private buyers and fleet operators seeking lower emissions without sacrificing capability.
Set to arrive in Australian showrooms in the first quarter of 2026, the Kodiaq Select PHEV delivers an electric-only WLTP range of up to 112km — one of the longest in its segment — supported by 11kW AC and 50kW DC charging. It combines a 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine with an 85kW/330Nm electric motor, producing a total output of 150kW and 350Nm.
Škoda says the powertrain achieves a combined fuel consumption of just 1.85L/100km, while still delivering a brisk 0–100km/h in 8.4 seconds.
Comfort, tech and practicality
Positioned between the sporty Kodiaq Sportline and performance-focused Kodiaq RS, the Select PHEV is described by Škoda as a “comfort-focused complement” to those variants. It retains a five-seat layout with an expansive 745-litre boot, while introducing additional drive modes and regenerative braking settings to optimise electric or hybrid operation.
Drivers can choose between E-mode (electric drive) or hybrid operation via the touchscreen, with options for low, high or automatic energy recuperation. Battery power can be managed automatically (using the engine to recharge) or manually for plug-in charging only — ideal for fleets that manage charging schedules.
Well-equipped for business
Standard equipment mirrors the high specification of the petrol Select model, including:
- 19-inch alloy wheels
- Keyless access
- Heated and power-folding mirrors
- Heated front seats and power driver’s seat
- Tri-zone climate control
- 13-inch infotainment system with navigation and wireless smartphone integration
- Twin wireless chargers and five USB-C ports
Safety is also comprehensive, with Adaptive Cruise Control with Travel Assist, Lane Assist, Side Assist, Turn Assist, Front Assist, Emergency Assist, and Traffic Sign Recognition, backed by nine airbags.
Premium features with the Signature Package
A new Signature Package will also be available across the 2.0 TSI and PHEV models, adding luxury touches such as massage front seats, head-up display, Matrix LED headlights, surround-view cameras and a heated steering wheel.
Positioned for plug-in growth
Škoda Australia Product Manager Aline Carrullo said the Kodiaq Select PHEV was designed to meet growing demand for premium electrified SUVs that can operate efficiently in urban environments while still covering long distances.
“For customers who want the most cutting-edge technology, our latest plug-in hybrid electric vehicle powertrain in the Kodiaq Select offers over 100km of electric range together with the flexibility of AC and DC charging,” Ms Carrullo said.
She added that the PHEV “perfectly complements the Sportline and RS variants, with an emphasis on style, technology and premium appointments.”
Fleet perspective
For Fleet Managers, the Kodiaq PHEV’s long electric range could allow most daily driving to be completed without using petrol, while the hybrid system ensures long-distance flexibility. Combined with a comprehensive active-safety suite and DC charging capability, it’s a strong candidate for organisations transitioning to lower-emission fleets without the full infrastructure demands of a BEV.
