Allianz has been named a finalist in the 2026 Fleet News Group Fleet Sustainability Award, recognised for an organisation-wide electric vehicle transition strategy that is delivering progress ahead of its original targets.
The Fleet Sustainability Award recognises organisations demonstrating leadership in reducing the environmental impact of their fleet while maintaining operational effectiveness and delivering measurable outcomes.
Allianz impressed the judging panel with the strategic commitment behind its fleet transition, particularly the way sustainability has been embedded within the broader organisation and supported at an executive level.
During the finalist selection process, judges highlighted that Allianz had exceeded its interim EV transition target, reaching approximately 41 per cent EV adoption against an original target of 20 per cent.
Its long-term ambition is to transition applicable fleet vehicles to electric vehicles under its EV100 commitment.
The judges also recognised that Allianz had approached the transition as more than a vehicle replacement program.
Home charging arrangements, driver reimbursement processes, telematics, driver support and active management of stored vehicles are helping address many of the practical barriers organisations encounter when introducing EVs.
Allianz has also been working to reduce average kilometres travelled per vehicle and manage the overall size of the fleet, demonstrating that sustainability can involve reducing demand as well as changing vehicle technology.
Judges described the presentation as a comprehensive strategy for integrating EVs and reducing the organisation’s carbon footprint, supported by a staged implementation program and evidence of progress.
Fleet News Group Managing Editor Marc Sibbald said reaching the industry voting stage was an important milestone for the inaugural Awards program.

“I was genuinely humbled by the number of nominations we received from organisations and fleet professionals who wanted to be involved in the program and have the work they are doing recognised by their peers.
“The quality of the shortlist made the judges’ job particularly difficult. The organisations that progressed to the interview stage were able to share some outstanding examples of fleet management, backed by evidence and a real commitment to improving their operations.
“I also want to thank our judges for the significant amount of time and commitment they have given to the process. Their focus has been on selecting quality finalists whose stories deserve to be shared with the broader fleet industry and recognised by their peers.

With the finalist selection process complete, the decision now moves to the fleet industry.
Industry voting is open, giving fleet, automotive and transport professionals the opportunity to decide which of the three finalists will win the 2026 Fleet Sustainability Award.
The winner will be announced at the Fleet News Group Awards on 14 October 2026 in Sydney.
