ACT-based fleets are being invited to participate in a new government-backed project designed to test a more dynamic approach to fleet electrification planning, charging infrastructure and energy management.
Roev and energy analytics specialist Elentar are recruiting 10–15 fleets for VANTAGE — Electrified Fleet Agent, a project supported by the ACT Government’s Energy Innovation Fund.
The project will run from July 2026 to March 2027, with participating fleets grouped into cohorts of three to four organisations.
Roev is seeking fleets now, including government agencies, councils, utilities, essential services, trades, delivery and service operators, and corporate or community organisations.
Fleets can be at any stage of their electrification journey, from considering their first electric vehicles through to organisations already rolling out EVs.
Moving beyond the one-off fleet assessment
VANTAGE is designed to test whether continuous fleet electrification planning based on actual operational and smart-meter data can provide better information than traditional one-off assessments.
The project will bring fleet planning, charging requirements and site energy use together in one platform.
A key part of the project will also be incorporating vehicle-to-grid and vehicle-to-business technology, collectively known as V2X, into total-cost-of-ownership modelling.
This will allow participating fleets to consider not only the cost of transitioning to electric vehicles, but also the potential value of using vehicle batteries to export electricity back to a site or the grid.
Roev CEO Robert Dietz said the aim was to give Fleet Managers information that continues to evolve as operating conditions change.
“Most fleets are still working off a static business case that’s out of date the moment it’s written. VANTAGE is about giving fleet managers a live, adaptive view — real energy costs, real site constraints, and a genuine read on what V2X participation is worth to them — instead of a one-off spreadsheet.”
What participating fleets receive
Organisations taking part will receive a complimentary fleet transition assessment, site energy analysis, charging infrastructure guidance and total-cost-of-ownership modelling.
They will also receive access to the VANTAGE platform during the project and for six months after the demonstration concludes.
Participation will be free, discounted or available at a modest cost depending on the organisation, with no fleet required to pay to take part.
In return, fleets will be asked to provide high-level fleet information, authorise access to relevant smart-meter data and trial the platform.
Roev estimates the total commitment for participating organisations will be approximately three to six hours across the project.
Findings will help inform future fleet electrification
The ACT Government is supporting recruitment for the project, including participation from government agencies.
Results from the demonstration will be presented to government and industry stakeholders in March 2027.
While the participating fleets will be based in the ACT, Roev and Elentar are developing the platform and project findings with broader application to fleets around Australia.
