Renault is continuing its Australian renaissance with the return of an iconic nameplate – the Scenic – reimagined for the electric era. The new Renault Scenic E-Tech will arrive in local showrooms before the end of 2025, expanding Renault Australia’s growing electric vehicle line-up and signalling a renewed commitment to the future of sustainable mobility.
It’s been 15 years since the Scenic last appeared in Australian showrooms, previously offered as a practical five-seat family car or seven-seat people mover. Now, the fifth-generation Scenic returns as a fully electric five-seat SUV, showcasing Renault’s latest E-Tech powertrain and next-generation design language.
Two powertrains, up to 625km of range
In Europe, the Scenic E-Tech is available in two configurations:
- Standard range: 125kW/280Nm electric motor paired with a 60kWh battery, providing up to 430km of driving range (WLTP).
- Long range: 160kW/300Nm electric motor and 87kWh battery, capable of up to 625km (WLTP) on a full charge.
Both versions use front-wheel drive, with 0–100km/h acceleration times of 8.6 seconds (standard range) and 7.9 seconds(long range). Fast-charging capability ranges from 130kW to 150kW, allowing for efficient recharging on compatible DC infrastructure.
Designed for families and fleets
Measuring 4470mm long and 1864mm wide, the Scenic E-Tech sits in the heart of the mid-size SUV segment. Its 545-litre boot (expandable to 1670L with the rear seats folded) gives it the practicality expected by both family buyers and fleet operators seeking everyday usability with zero tailpipe emissions.
For Australian Fleet Managers considering electrification options, the Scenic E-Tech’s claimed range and versatile interior will make it a practical alternative to petrol or hybrid SUVs. The long-range version, in particular, offers the kind of driving distance needed for regional use or shift-based operations, where access to fast chargers may be limited.
A step forward in Renault’s local revival
Glen Sealey, General Manager of Renault Australia, confirmed the Scenic E-Tech marks the beginning of a broader product push for the brand.
“Earlier this year we announced Renault Australia would introduce six new or updated models over the next 18 months,” Sealey said.
“The Renault Scenic E-Tech is just the start of our revitalisation program and we are delighted to be able to introduce this award-winning car in Australia.
“In a sea of ‘same-same’ SUVs, the Renault Scenic E-Tech stands out for its French flair, cutting-edge design, and easy-to-use technology.”
Renault will confirm Australian pricing and specifications closer to launch, including which model grades and battery options will be available locally.
European innovation, Australian arrival
Built on the Alliance CMF-EV platform shared with the Nissan Ariya and Renault Megane E-Tech, the Scenic E-Tech combines aerodynamic efficiency with a clean, modern design aesthetic. Inside, Renault’s focus on technology is evident with an intuitive infotainment system, open-plan cabin layout, and sustainable materials, aligning with the brand’s broader decarbonisation goals.
The Scenic E-Tech has also been recognised internationally, winning European Car of the Year 2024, a sign of its strong design and engineering credentials.
What it means for the market
For Sustainability Managers and Fleet Buyers, the Scenic E-Tech signals growing choice in the medium EV SUV category — one of the fastest-growing segments for both corporate and novated lease drivers. With a 625km range and competitive charging speeds, it could prove a compelling option for organisations aiming to reduce fleet emissions without compromising usability or comfort.
As Renault’s electric portfolio expands in Australia, the Scenic E-Tech positions the brand alongside other mainstream EV SUV contenders such as the Tesla Model Y, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Kia EV5.
Full Australian pricing, specifications, and delivery timelines are expected to be announced closer to launch in late 2025.
