Roev has released proposed pricing and product details for electric ute conversions as part of their EV Fleet Program. After months of engagement with interested fleet customers, Roev is confident that their solution provides a genuine opportunity to start the transition to electric utes now.
“There is huge demand for electric utes in Australia, particularly among large fleets,” says Roev CEO Noah Wasmer. “We are actively listening to customers to ensure that our product solutions meet their operational needs.”
Through the Roev EV Fleet Program, fleet customers will be able to have their Toyota Hilux or Ford Ranger utes converted to 100% battery electric vehicles. The Roev EV Fleet Program offers two proposed configurations; a ‘Standard Pack’ delivering up to 240 km of driving range, and an ‘Extended Pack’ delivering up to 360 km of range
Roev is committed to creating “powerwalls on wheels” and V2L capability will allow users to power their tools and equipment on site through a 240v power outlet. Wasmer says that’s just the start for Roev, with plans for vehicle-to-home, vehicle-to-depot and ultimately vehicle-to-grid in the future. “We’re excited to be working with fleets to unlock the potential of their fleets for energy storage, resilience, management and distribution,” explains Wasmer.
“Something we heard from a lot of fleets is the desire to convert slightly older vehicles to extend the life of their existing assets,” said Wasmer. He adds that it’s something Roev fully supports as a highly sustainable way to electrify fleets. “With a conversion, you’re not only adding an electric vehicle to your fleet, but you’re also taking a diesel vehicle off the road and preventing many years of future tailpipe C02 emissions.
Roev has committed to converting 1,000 utes in the first 12 months of the program and says that interested fleets will have the chance to secure build spots when first-round reservations open in December.
For now the conversions are only available to fleet customers, but Roev hopes that the Fleet Program will allow them to scale the conversion process and open orders to the wider public in the future.
“Australia needs electric utes in massive numbers” says Wasmer, “the race isn’t between car companies – it’s a race to protect our environment and the future for our children. Conversions are one way we can tackle the problem, but we also need imports and the mainstream brands to come to the party.”
Wasmer says that a lot of electric ute demand is coming from consumers and fleets that had previously bought utes from the big brands and are now preparing to go electric.
“We’re eager to make the Roev EV Drive System available on more vehicle models and encourage OEM’s to work closely with us to support their customers with the EV option that they crave.”
