Ferrari has officially pulled the covers off the chassis and powertrain of its first-ever all-electric model, the Ferrari Elettrica, during its 2025 Capital Markets Day in Maranello. It marks the biggest technological turning point in the brand’s 77-year history — and it’s not just another EV.
This isn’t a compliance car. It’s a statement that even the most emotive brand in motoring can evolve without losing its soul.
Ferrari says the Elettrica is the result of more than a decade of electrification research, from the 2009 Formula 1 hybrid system to the LaFerrari and SF90 Stradale plug-in hybrid. Now, the Prancing Horse has gone fully electric — and fully in-house. Every key component, from the dual electric axles to the 122 kWh battery and inverters, has been designed and built in Maranello.
Performance still comes first
Despite weighing around 2300 kg, Ferrari claims a 0–100 km/h time of 2.5 seconds, more than 1000 cv in boost mode, and a top speed of 310 km/h. Range is quoted at 530 km (WLTP) — impressive for a supercar tuned for performance first.
The architecture features four electric motors (two front, two rear), giving active torque vectoring and four-wheel drive. The battery sits low in the floorpan, lowering the centre of gravity by 80 mm compared to an equivalent petrol model.
60 patents and 75% recycled aluminium
Ferrari says the Elettrica is its most sustainable car ever, with a chassis and body made from 75% recycled aluminium, saving 6.7 tonnes of CO₂ per vehicle built.
The brand’s third-generation 48 V active suspension system, combined with a new elasticised subframe, is designed to deliver Ferrari-grade handling with limousine-grade comfort.
A sound like no other
Rather than synthesising a fake exhaust note, Ferrari engineers have created an authentic electric soundtrack. A high-precision accelerometer picks up mechanical vibrations from the rear axle and amplifies them — “like an electric guitar,” says Ferrari — to create a sound that reflects the car’s power delivery and provides real-time feedback to the driver.
Looking ahead
The full design reveal of the Elettrica will take place in early 2026, when Ferrari unveils its finished interior and exterior styling. For now, the focus is on what matters most to purists — the engineering.
If this is the future of electric performance, it’s one shaped by tradition as much as technology.
