GAC Australia has been named the Official Automotive Partner of Melbourne City FC under a new multi-year agreement commencing with the 2026/27 A-League season.
The partnership will give the emerging automotive brand prominent exposure across Melbourne City’s A-League Men’s and Women’s teams, with the GAC logo to appear on the players’ shorts.
GAC will also participate in match-day activations at AAMI Park, fan experiences, player appearances and digital collaborations across Melbourne City FC’s platforms.
The agreement represents a significant brand-building investment as GAC works to expand its presence in the Australian automotive market.
GAC International Australia CEO Kevin Shu said the partnership would introduce the company and its vehicle range to a broader national audience.
“Melbourne City FC has an incredible history in all A-League competitions and, like this club, we always give 100 per cent effort to all that we do,” Shu said.
“We are ambitious for where we want to be over the coming years and, in the same way this team approaches the game, we seek exciting yet sustainable ways to strengthen our position in the market and to engage with the club’s supporters.”
Shu said GAC wanted the partnership to develop into a meaningful long-term relationship rather than operate solely as a sponsorship arrangement.
“This new and exciting relationship provides another opportunity to showcase our innovative range to an extended audience of football fans across the country,” he said.
“We are passionate to build something meaningful over the longer term.”
Global brands with local ambitions
Both organisations highlighted their access to international resources and expertise as an important element of the partnership.
Melbourne City FC is part of the global City Football Group, while GAC operates design studios and research and development facilities in Milan, Shanghai and Guangzhou.
Established in 1997, GAC recently produced its 30 millionth vehicle and now has a presence in more than 70 international markets.
Melbourne City FC CEO Brad Rowse said the automotive company’s international experience and plans for the Australian market made it a strong fit for the club.
“GAC shares our ambition to innovate, challenge expectations and invest for the long term,” Rowse said.
“Its combination of global expertise and commitment to growing in Australia makes it a natural fit for Melbourne City, and we look forward to helping GAC build a meaningful connection with our members, fans and the wider local community.”
