Honda has confirmed its newest small electric vehicle — the Honda Super-ONE — will arrive in Australia in the second half of 2026, adding a new spark to the growing city-EV segment.
The Super-ONE is based on the Honda Super EV concept first shown at the Goodwood Festival of Speed earlier this year. Now confirmed for production following its debut at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show, the Super-ONE promises to blend Honda’s premium design and engineering with the nimble, fun-to-drive character of Japan’s famous Kei cars.
Compact, Clever, and Built for the City
With a footprint of less than 3.6 metres long and 1.6 metres wide, the Honda Super-ONE is tailor-made for tight city streets and crowded car parks. Honda says its light, direct steering and compact dimensions deliver the kind of agile handling that makes city driving enjoyable — not stressful.
According to Honda Australia President and CEO, Jay Joseph, the Super-ONE represents a fresh option for Australians looking for a practical but playful EV.
“Honda Super-ONE is a unique proposition for Australians living and working in dense urban environments, blending small car usability with premium Honda design and engineering,” said Mr Joseph.
“Developed from Japanese Kei car concepts, it’s designed to be an agile, quiet and playful inner-city EV that’s as fun to drive as it is to own.”
Boost Mode and Sound for the Senses
While many EVs emphasise silence, Honda’s adding some flair. The Boost Mode feature delivers an instant surge of power when the accelerator is pressed, accompanied by engine-like sound effects that simulate gear shifts — creating a driving experience that feels both dynamic and familiar.
It’s a clever nod to Honda’s long heritage of “fun to drive” vehicles, but with an electric twist.
Tested for Australian Roads
Honda’s engineers have already been busy testing the Super-ONE in Japan’s dense cities and on open roads, refining handling, ride comfort, and charging systems. But before the first cars reach local showrooms, it will also complete extensive testing on Australian roads to ensure it meets local expectations for comfort, safety, and performance.
“It’s important that our customers have confidence the same commitment to quality Honda has delivered consistently over the past 55 years in Australia extends into the new EV and e:HEV era,” said Mr Joseph.
Next in Honda’s Electrification Plan
The Super-ONE will follow a busy launch schedule for Honda Australia, arriving after the return of the Honda Preludeand refreshed e:HEV hybrid line-ups of the CR-V and ZR-V. Together, these models signal Honda’s steady shift towards electrified mobility — combining hybrid and battery-electric vehicles that aim to cut emissions without compromising on Honda’s reputation for reliability.
Globally, Honda’s goal is carbon neutrality across all products and operations by 2050, and models like the Super-ONE show how it plans to electrify the joy of driving for the next generation.
A Potential Fit for Fleet and Novated Buyers
While details on pricing and specifications will come closer to launch, the Super-ONE could appeal to urban delivery fleets, council operations, and novated lease drivers wanting a stylish, efficient commuter EV. Its compact footprint and low running costs will make it an attractive choice for those navigating tight city routes or parking in CBD garages.
