Nissan Australia has confirmed the MY26 Nissan QASHQAI will arrive in early 2026 as an e-POWER-only lineup, marking a decisive shift to electrified performance without the need to plug in .
For fleet and novated lease buyers, the move simplifies powertrain choice while delivering meaningful gains in fuel efficiency, emissions and refinement—key considerations as organisations respond to rising operating costs and New Vehicle Efficiency Standard (NVES) targets.
e-POWER: EV feel, no charging required
Nissan’s e-POWER system differs from conventional hybrids by driving the wheels exclusively with an electric motor. A highly efficient 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine acts only as a generator, producing electricity on demand.
The result is instant electric response, smooth power delivery and a noticeably quieter cabin—without changing refuelling habits.
For MY26, Nissan introduces a new 5-in-1 modular e-POWER powertrain, integrating the electric motor, generator, inverter, increaser and reducer into a single compact unit. The redesign reduces weight and complexity while improving energy transfer efficiency.
Efficiency gains that matter to fleets
The MY26 QASHQAI posts fuel consumption of 4.1L/100km (combined), improving on the previous 4.8L/100km figure. CO₂ emissions drop from 112g/km to 92g/km, a 17.8 per cent reduction, supporting corporate emissions-reduction objectives .
Cabin refinement also improves, with Nissan quoting a 5.6dB reduction in noise, delivering an EV-like driving experience that will appeal to drivers spending long hours behind the wheel. A +10kW Sport Mode boost adds extra responsiveness when required.
Australian engineering at the core
A standout element of the MY26 QASHQAI story is local manufacturing. Critical high-pressure cast aluminium components for the new 5-in-1 e-POWER unit are engineered and manufactured at Nissan Casting Australia Plant in Dandenong, Victoria, which serves as the global sole supplier.
For fleet buyers, this highlights Australia’s role in Nissan’s global electrification program while supporting local manufacturing capability.
Expanded range and sharper pricing
To broaden appeal, Nissan has introduced a new ST-L e-POWER entry grade, making the technology more accessible across fleet and novated lease programs.
MY26 QASHQAI e-POWER pricing (MSRP):
- ST-L e-POWER – $45,640
- Ti e-POWER – $49,640
- Ti-L e-POWER – $53,640
- N-Design e-POWER – $54,140
(Prices exclude on-road costs) .
Technology and safety upgrades
All grades benefit from enhanced driver assistance and parking technology, including an upgraded Digital Around View Monitor with:
- 3D 8-point views
- Skeleton Hood View for wheel-level obstacle visibility
- T-Junction View for improved sightlines at intersections
Higher grades add updated ProPILOT+ driver assistance with improved lane-keeping performance and awareness of adjacent vehicles.
Standard equipment highlights include a 12.3-inch infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless phone charging, NissanConnect Services, dual-zone climate control and Nissan Intelligent Mobility safety systems.
Fleet takeaway
By moving QASHQAI to an all e-POWER lineup, Nissan is offering fleets a practical stepping stone toward electrification—delivering lower emissions and running costs with no charging infrastructure changes. Backed by a 10-year/300,000km warranty (when serviced within the Nissan network), the MY26 QASHQAI shapes up as a compelling option for organisations seeking immediate efficiency gains without operational disruption .
