Centurion has officially rolled out its first 20 battery electric vehicles (BEVs), marking a major milestone in its transition toward a lower-emission transport fleet. These cutting-edge Mercedes-Benz eActros 300 trucks, developed by Daimler, are now fully operational, servicing metropolitan routes across Perth. This initiative is a testament to Centurion’s strong partnership with Daimler, ensuring access to world-class electric transport technology while reinforcing the company’s commitment to reducing emissions and delivering reliable service.
A Game-Changer for Sustainable Transport
Centurion’s electric trucks represent a major step forward in Australian logistics, made possible through collaboration with Daimler. The Mercedes-Benz eActros 300 trucks offer zero tailpipe emissions and significantly lower noise levels, making them ideal for urban transport. By choosing Daimler as its technology partner, Centurion is ensuring that its fleet transition benefits from industry-leading expertise, ongoing support, and cutting-edge advancements in electric vehicle technology.
“The introduction of 20 electric trucks is an important milestone in Centurion’s sustainability journey. Partnering with Daimler has allowed us to bring world-class electric transport technology into our operations, reinforcing our commitment to reducing emissions while continuing to deliver reliable service to our customers,” said Justin Cardaci, Chief Executive Officer at Centurion.
This deployment is just the beginning of a broader push towards sustainable transport solutions. With Daimler’s support, Centurion is leading the way setting a foundation for long-term emissions reduction across its logistics network.
Powered by Renewable Energy
A key component of this initiative is Centurion’s commitment to renewable energy. To support the new electric fleet, the company has built extensive solar panel arrays to generate clean electricity for charging.
The fleet is supported by 30 dedicated charging stations, including dual 50-kilowatt chargers, three 75-kilowatt, and two fast chargers with 150-kilowatt capacity. This infrastructure allows for overnight charging and even midday top-ups, optimising fleet availability and efficiency. By prioritising renewable energy, Centurion is not only reducing emissions but also creating a self-sustaining energy model that minimises reliance on the grid.
Enhancing Operational Efficiency with Daimler’s Expertise
The introduction of electric trucks is not just about sustainability—it also enhances operational control. Previously, Centurion outsourced some of its metropolitan pick-up operations. By bringing these responsibilities in-house with Daimler’s electric vehicles, the company can streamline logistics, improve scheduling, and reduce overall costs.
The trucks operate on a carefully planned schedule, ensuring that they return to base for overnight charging. However, thanks to the solar-powered battery system, some vehicles can recharge during the day, allowing for extended service hours and greater flexibility in meeting customer demands.
A Step Towards a Greener Future
Centurion’s commitment to sustainable transport is clear, and this rollout is just the first phase. With Daimler as a key partner, the company is well-positioned to expand its electric fleet further. The ongoing collaboration ensures that Centurion has access to the latest advancements in electric truck technology, enabling continuous improvements in efficiency and sustainability.
With its first 20 Mercedes-Benz eActros 300 trucks now in service, Centurion is proving that the transition to lower-emission transport is not just an aspiration—it’s a reality. This initiative, backed by Daimler’s world-class technology and Centurion’s investment in renewable energy, sets a new standard for the industry and paves the way for a more sustainable future in Australian freight and logistics.
