BYD’s premium sub-brand DENZA is making its Australian debut with two electrified SUVs that blend serious off-road muscle with luxury appointments – the B5 and B8.
The move signals DENZA’s arrival into Australia’s fast-growing plug-in hybrid SUV segment, with the new models built on BYD’s advanced DM-O (Dual Mode Offroad) super-hybrid platform. Both SUVs feature BYD’s patented Blade Battery technology, dual-motor 4WD, and intelligent drivetrain systems designed to balance performance, range, and efficiency.
Plug-In Hybrid Power with Serious Capability
The DENZA B5 will arrive in two trims – the standard B5 and the more capable B5 Leopard. Each produces an impressive 425kW and 760Nm, powered by a 31.8kWh Blade Battery that delivers up to 90km of electric-only range (WLTP) and supports DC fast charging up to 100kW.
The B5 Leopard takes capability to another level with DiSus-P hydraulic adaptive suspension, front and rear electric diff locks, and a 3,000kg towing capacity – making it one of the most powerful and versatile PHEV SUVs on the market.
Inside, the B5 features five seats, up to 1,064L of boot space, Nappa leather upholstery, and dual displays – a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen and a 12.3-inch driver’s display – complemented by a 360º camera and 11 airbags for safety.
Flagship Luxury with the DENZA B8
At the top of the range, the DENZA B8 sets a new benchmark for plug-in hybrid luxury SUVs. Available in 6-seat (6S)and 7-seat (7S) configurations, the B8 delivers 450kW and 760Nm via its dual-motor 4WD setup. It also uses the 31.8kWh Blade Battery, paired with a 91L fuel tank and DC fast charging up to 120kW – ensuring confidence for long-distance touring or off-grid adventures.
Capability is again a highlight, with DiSus-P suspension, electric differential locks, and a 3,500kg towing capacity as standard.
The interior takes comfort to another level, offering soft-closing doors, massaging seats, and even a cooler/hotbox (-6°C to 50°C) for road-trip convenience. In the 6-seat layout, captain’s chairs in the second row provide limousine-like comfort.
An 18-speaker Devialet sound system and 14 airbags round out the technology and safety package.
