As Australia accelerates towards a zero-emission transport future, the Motor Traders’ Association of New South Wales (MTA NSW) is ensuring the automotive industry is ready to lead the charge.
At Mobility Live 2025 (15–16 October, ICC Sydney), MTA NSW will showcase its leadership in electric vehicle (EV) skills development, safety standards, and workforce capability — reinforcing that upskilling is central to Australia’s sustainable mobility transition.
At the heart of the MTA NSW exhibit will be a live EV training showcase, including a working Powerwall simulation, advanced EV and hybrid safety demonstrations, and the BYD Sealion 6, highlighting the latest electric-vehicle technology now entering Australian workshops.
These activities mirror the practical, hands-on learning delivered through MTA NSW’s Registered Training Organisation (Registration Number 90402), which is equipping technicians with the nationally accredited AURSS00064 – Battery Electric Vehicle Inspection and Servicing Skill Set.
“Our focus is on developing the workforce capability required for a safe and successful transition to electric vehicles,” said Stavros Yallouridis, CEO of MTA NSW.
“This is about ensuring technicians are equipped with the right knowledge, tools, and confidence to work safely and effectively with high-voltage systems, while supporting consumer confidence and the broader uptake of EVs in New South Wales.”
MTA NSW’s Head of Government Relations and Advocacy, Collin Jennings, will also join a panel of industry and policy leaders to discuss how training, licensing, and safety standards must evolve alongside rapid EV adoption.
“The automotive sector is undergoing its most significant transformation in a century,” said Mr Jennings.
“MTA NSW has played a key role in shaping the forthcoming EV licence framework for NSW, ensuring that only appropriately trained technicians are authorised to work on high-voltage vehicles. This marks an important step towards improving safety, professionalism, and workforce readiness across the state.”
This focus on capability-building directly supports the NSW Government’s net-zero objectives, embedding practical training as a foundation of the state’s transport decarbonisation pathway and aligning local practice with emerging national EV standards.
As a Gold Sponsor of Mobility Live, MTA NSW is using the event to advocate for a unified, skills-driven approach to EV adoption, connecting government, business, and industry stakeholders around the shared goal of a safe, capable, and future-ready automotive workforce.
Delegates are invited to visit the MTA NSW stand at Mobility Live to experience live EV training demonstrations and speak with industry experts about the future of automotive skills, safety, and workforce capability.
