Polestar has announced a series of updates for the MY27 Polestar 4 coupé in Australia, with changes focused on ride quality, driving dynamics, sustainability and a simplified model structure.
The updated Polestar 4 receives a recalibrated chassis across Rear motor and Dual motor variants, including higher-capacity passive dampers, revised spring and anti-roll bar settings and polyurethane rebound stops replacing the previous internal rebound coil springs.
Polestar says the changes are designed to improve steering precision and provide a more controlled driving experience, while balancing agility and comfort.
For fleet operators considering electric vehicles for executive, management or user-chooser applications, improvements to ride comfort and everyday driveability can be particularly important where vehicles are expected to cover significant distances or be used across a range of road conditions.
Polestar CEO Michael Lohscheller said the changes strengthen the overall package offered by the electric performance model.
“The upgraded Polestar 4 coupé is better than ever, offering a more refined ride with enhanced driving pleasure, and stronger sustainability credentials,” Lohscheller said.
Lower production carbon footprint
The MY27 update also continues Polestar’s focus on reducing the environmental impact associated with vehicle production.
Polestar says Australian-delivered Polestar 4 coupé models will have a cradle-to-gate carbon footprint of 19.4 tonnes CO₂e for the Rear motor and 20.3 tonnes CO₂e for the Dual motor.
The carbon footprint of the Dual motor model has fallen by 1.1 tonnes CO₂e for Australian vehicles since launch.
The figures are relevant for fleets looking beyond tailpipe emissions when developing sustainability strategies.
As organisations become more sophisticated in measuring Scope 3 emissions and whole-of-life environmental impacts, the emissions associated with vehicle manufacturing are likely to play a greater role in procurement and fleet policy decisions.
Simpler model line-up
Polestar has also revised the model structure and naming convention for the MY27 range.
The Polestar 4 coupé will now be offered as Rear motor, Dual motor and Dual motor with Performance pack, creating a clearer progression through the range.
There are also subtle differences between variants, including black seatbelt and rotary control details on the Rear motor, black with a Swedish gold stripe on the Dual motor, and full Swedish gold detailing on Dual motor models equipped with the Performance pack.
The specification structure allows fleet buyers to select between the core vehicle, higher equipment levels and more performance-focused versions depending on driver requirements and fleet policy.
The $6,500 Plus pack includes equipment such as a Harman Kardon premium sound system, head-up display, Pixel LED headlights, powered seats, heated steering wheel and rear seats, tri-zone climate control and PM2.5 air filtration.
On Dual motor models equipped with the Plus pack, a $7,200 Performance pack adds 22-inch Performance wheels, Polestar Engineered chassis tuning, Brembo brakes and Swedish gold accents.
Charging and V2L features
For fleets, one of the more practical options available on the updated Polestar 4 is 22kW AC charging.
Priced at $900, the option could be useful for organisations with access to higher-capacity three-phase workplace charging, potentially allowing vehicles to recover significant range during shorter periods at a depot or workplace.
Other individual options include an electrochromic glass roof, privacy glass and a fully electric retractable towbar.
Polestar has also confirmed that Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability and a Camping mode will be made available across all Polestar 4 vehicles through a future software update.
V2L provides another practical dimension for fleet users by allowing energy stored in the vehicle battery to power external electrical equipment, which may increase the vehicle’s suitability for some operational or mobile-work applications.
Pricing aligned across body styles
As part of the MY27 changes, Polestar Australia has also aligned pricing between the Polestar 4 SUV and coupé.
Both body styles now start at $73,900 before government charges and on-road costs for Rear motor versions, while Dual motor variants start at $81,750.
Rather than making price the key distinction between the two models, the alignment allows fleet and novated lease buyers to focus more on vehicle configuration, specification and intended use when choosing between the Polestar 4 variants.
Combined with the chassis revisions, lower reported production emissions and forthcoming V2L capability, the MY27 update broadens the considerations for fleets assessing the Polestar 4 as part of their transition to electric vehicles.
