The rollout of an all-new Isuzu truck range in 2024 includes the signature N Series EV, which will see Australian customer trials scheduled for next year.
The electric N Series was revealed at the 2023 Brisbane Truck Show with great fanfare. It signalled an intention by Isuzu to introduce low and zero emission trucks but not without extensive local testing and customer trials.
When announcing the arrival of the first all-new Isuzu trucks since 2008, IAL Director and Chief Operating Officer, Andrew Harbison commented that the current models had allowed the company to build market share over the previous 15 years and the same is expected from the new model lineup.
IAL Light-Duty Product Manager, Jeff Gibson heralded the start of local trials for the electric drivetrain along with several other new models.
“We also have several Japanese-spec N Series battery electric models due to arrive shortly in Australia,” said
“In-line with our strategy of targeting last mile and local council and government applications, the trucks will be car and light rigid licence models, rated at a 4.5-and 7.5-tonne GVM.
“The eNLR at 4.5-tonne GVM will feature a three-battery configuration with 60kWh capacity, while the eNPR is rated at 7.5-tonne GVM in a five-battery configuration with 100kWh capacity.
“Having battery electric trucks on the ground and in trial is a major stage in this new model release program… it’s a remarkable experience to take part in,” Mr Gibson commented.
