Subaru Australia has confirmed it will add a new all-electric SUV to its local line-up in 2026, with the all-new Trailseeker set to arrive in the second quarter of the year.
Trailseeker is an entirely new nameplate for the brand and will sit at the top of Subaru’s electric SUV range in Australia. It follows the recent update to the Solterra and signals a broader push into battery-electric vehicles, while retaining the all-wheel drive capability and usability the brand is known for.
The Trailseeker will be Subaru’s quickest production vehicle to date, producing a combined 280 kW from its dual-motor electric drivetrain. Subaru claims a 0–100 km/h time of around 4.4 seconds, positioning the Trailseeker as a performance-focused SUV without stepping away from the brand’s traditional emphasis on stability and control.
Despite its strong acceleration figures, Subaru says Trailseeker has been developed with real-world conditions in mind. The SUV offers 211 mm of ground clearance, standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and a low centre of gravity, combining on-road composure with confidence on rough or unsealed surfaces.
Underpinning Trailseeker is Subaru’s next-generation e-Subaru Global Platform, designed specifically for electric vehicles. The platform supports higher power outputs, improved rigidity and enhanced all-wheel drive performance, with Subaru engineers focusing on predictable traction and balanced handling across a wide range of driving environments.
Energy is supplied by a 74.7 kWh CATL battery, delivering a claimed driving range of up to 533 kilometres under ADR 81/02 testing. Trailseeker supports DC fast charging at up to 150 kW, allowing a 10 to 80 per cent charge in around 30 minutes under optimal conditions. It also offers 22 kW three-phase AC charging and 1500 W vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality, expanding its usefulness for work, travel and outdoor activities.
Practicality remains a key part of the Trailseeker proposition. Subaru has confirmed a braked towing capacity of 1,500 kg, reinforcing its positioning as an electric SUV capable of handling recreational and lifestyle demands alongside daily driving.
Subaru Australia General Manager Scott Lawrence said the Trailseeker has been designed to deliver electric performance without compromising the brand’s core values.
“Trailseeker is the EV with personality,” Lawrence said. “It shows that electric performance doesn’t have to come at the expense of confidence, control or real-world capability – the qualities our customers expect from a Subaru.”
Trailseeker will join a growing Subaru range that includes the next-generation hybrid Forester, the updated Solterra, and the upcoming Outback and Wilderness models. Subaru says further details on specification, timing and pricing for the Trailseeker will be announced closer to its Australian launch.
