The Governorate of Vatican City State has taken another step towards zero-emission mobility with the delivery of two TVS iQube electric scooters, supplied through a collaboration between TVS Motor Company and Exelentia.
The official handover, held on 5 February, builds on an established partnership between the Vatican and Exelentia, which is already involved in innovation and sustainability initiatives within the city-state.
Supporting a unique operating environment
The deployment forms part of the Governorate’s broader ecological transition programme, focused on introducing practical zero-emission solutions suited to the daily operational needs of one of the world’s most distinctive institutional environments.
Within the Vatican, mobility solutions must balance efficiency and reliability with sensitivity to heritage, visitors and staff. Quiet, emission-free vehicles such as the iQube align closely with these requirements.
Giovanni Notarbartolo di Furnari, General Manager of TVS Motor Italia, said the deployment reflects the company’s long-term vision for urban electric mobility.
“The deployment of TVS iQube electric scooters in a prestigious setting such as the Vatican validates our vision for urban electric mobility—anchored in reliability, intuitive usability, and world class quality.”
Giovanni Zappia, Founder & Owner of Exelentia, highlighted the suitability of the solution for sensitive institutional contexts.
“The partnership undertaken with the Governorate of the State of the Vatican City strengthens Exelentia’s commitment to contributing concretely to mature, reliable mobility fully suited to particularly sensitive urban and institutional contexts.”
Technology tailored for short-range operations
The TVS iQube was selected for its silent performance and integrated technology package. With a range of up to 100 kilometres in Eco mode, the scooter is well suited to short-range operational duties.
Key features include:
- Smooth and quiet electric driveline
- SmartXonnect connectivity system
- TFT display with app integration
- Focus on rider comfort and ease of use
- Zero tailpipe emissions and minimal noise
The SmartXonnect system enables intelligent connectivity via a dedicated application, supporting real-time information and enhanced usability for operators.
A broader signal for institutional fleets
Founded in India, TVS Motor Company operates in more than 90 countries and has built its reputation on producing reliable vehicles designed for everyday mobility needs.
For Exelentia, a specialist in last-mile mobility solutions, the Vatican deployment represents the application of electric two-wheelers in a highly visible institutional setting.
While modest in scale, the introduction of electric scooters within Vatican City demonstrates how small, fit-for-purpose EV deployments can support wider sustainability strategies—particularly in environments where noise reduction and emissions elimination are central considerations.
