Geely Auto Australia used the Everything Electric Show in Sydney to confirm three new electrified models for local launch in 2027, expanding its presence across the SUV, sedan and off-road segments.
The Geely MONJARO EM-i SUV, Emgrand L EM-i sedan and Battleship 700 off-road SUV were displayed at the event.
The MONJARO EM-i and Emgrand L EM-i were scheduled to arrive during the first half of 2027, while the Battleship 700 was planned for the second half of the year.
The three vehicles represented half of the six new models Geely intended to introduce to Australia during 2027.
For fleet operators, the announcement indicated that Geely was preparing to compete across a broader range of applications. Its upcoming plug-in hybrid portfolio was designed to cover family transport, employee vehicles, executive sedans and more demanding regional or off-road duties.
By the end of 2027, Geely expected its Australian portfolio to include small cars, medium SUVs, medium sedans and off-road SUVs.
MONJARO EM-i targeted long-distance SUV buyers
The five-seat MONJARO EM-i was positioned as a refined plug-in hybrid SUV with the electric range to complete many daily fleet journeys without using petrol.
Based on Geely’s performance-focused GEA EVO platform, it featured Continuously Controlled Damping suspension and a chassis tuned by Geely Technology Europe.
Its plug-in hybrid system combined a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with two electric motors and a battery of up to 40kWh.
Geely claimed the MONJARO EM-i could travel up to 170km using electric power and up to 1,137km when its petrol and electric systems were combined, based on the WLTP testing cycle.
That combination could appeal to fleets looking for an electric-first vehicle without introducing the charging and range considerations associated with a battery-electric model on longer regional journeys.
Front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations were planned, along with a choice of 19- and 20-inch wheels.
The cabin included a 15.4-inch touchscreen, 25.6-inch ultra-wide head-up display, surround-view monitor and heated, ventilated and massaging front seats. Heated rear seats were also included.
Like the Geely EX5 and Starray EM-i, the MONJARO EM-i offered vehicle-to-load and vehicle-to-vehicle functionality with output of up to 6.6kW. This could allow the vehicle to power tools, equipment or another compatible vehicle when required.
Emgrand L EM-i expanded Geely into sedans
The Emgrand L EM-i marked Geely’s planned entry into Australia’s electrified sedan segment.
The five-seat model used a plug-in hybrid system similar to the one fitted to the Starray EM-i SUV. Preliminary specifications included an 18.4kWh battery, more than 80km of electric range and a combined driving range exceeding 1,000km under the WLTP cycle.
Geely also indicated outputs of more than 180kW and 250Nm, although final Australian specifications had not been confirmed.
While Australian buyers had continued moving towards SUVs, the Emgrand L EM-i could give fleets another lower-profile alternative for sales representatives, executives and other high-mileage drivers.
Five exterior colours were shown, with black and brown upholstery options planned for the upper specification grade.
Battleship 700 brought serious off-road capability
The Battleship 700 sat at the other end of Geely’s emerging Australian range.
The five-seat, off-road-focused plug-in hybrid SUV was scheduled to arrive during the second half of 2027, subject to confirmation of its Australian specification.
In overseas markets, the Battleship 700 combined a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a 47kWh battery and tri-motor all-wheel-drive system. Combined output was rated at 830kW, while electric-only range was listed at up to 170km.
Its off-road specifications included 233mm of ground clearance, an integrated differential lock and a claimed wading depth of 800mm.
The vehicle also featured a “Waltz” U-Turn function designed to improve manoeuvrability by allowing it to turn within a confined space.
Inside, the Battleship 700 included 12.3-inch and 15.6-inch displays, a panoramic sunroof, independent rear air-conditioning, a heating and cooling compartment in the centre console and a 23-speaker sound system.
The model could give Geely an entry into a growing market for high-powered plug-in hybrid off-road vehicles, although its suitability for Australian fleets would depend on local towing, payload, servicing and pricing details.
Geely will announce Australian specifications and prices for all three models closer to their respective arrivals.
