EV Automotive, a subsidary of the Epoca Group of Companies, was established for the purpose of importing a range of electric transport vans and passenger vehicles suitable for Australian conditions. To achieve this they have collaborated with Chinese automotive manufacturer DFSK, utilising their global R&D network and manufacturing facilities in China.
Originally an engine driven vehicle manufacturer, DFSK have transitioned part of their operations from petrol to electric vehicle production, on a large 21st century scale. From their state of the art factories in Chongqing, DFSK produce electric vehicles fortheir domestic market as well as vehicles that are t for purpose in overseas markets.
Manufactured and assembled with a combination of local components and automotive parts from global manufacturers such as Bosch, Valeo, Webasto and Delphi, to name a few, these vehicles meet and pass all the safety and engineeringcerti cations required for import to their destination countries.
The EC35 transport van and Glory E3 SUV are the first vehicles to be launched in Australia. Offering space, comfort, extended driving distance and fast re-charge times, these are vehicles made for the everyday commute and working around town.
Unlike traditional car sales, these vehicles will be ordered from retail stores, at this stage anticipated to be located within shopping centres, with a service centre in close proximity. After sales service and care will include a two year roadside assistance package. Negotiations are in progress with two national service providers for provision of ongoing servicing and warranty issues. Each of the providers has over 150 service outlets across Australia enabling EV Automotive to offer nationwide coverage from the very first delivery.
“As more and more consumers and eet transport operators consider the switch to electric vehicles, we could see a place in the market, right now, for vehicles like these,” said David Potter, managing director of EV Automotive. “The delivery van offers exceptional internal space capacity and drive time, while the small-medium SUV is perfect for city and open road driving.”
The EC35 and Glory E3 will be previewed at Chatswood Shopping Centre from 14th – 24th October. They will then be on show at the AEVA Sydney Electric Vehicle Expo at the Sydney Showgrounds, 26th – 27th October as a soft launch for the DFSK brand in Australia.
The official launch is planned for the first half of 2020, with the first vehicles being delivered and on the road by mid-2020.
