Changan will take responsibility for DEEPAL distribution in Australia following a mutual agreement to end the brand’s distribution partnership with Inchcape Australia.
The transition period runs from 21 October 2026 until 31 March 2027, with Changan assuming distribution responsibility during that period.
Both companies say existing customer orders will be honoured, while sales, servicing, warranty programs, parts, logistics and customer support will continue.
For Fleet Managers operating DEEPAL vehicles or considering the brand, continuity of aftersales support is a key part of the announcement. Customers will retain access to factory-trained technicians, genuine DEEPAL parts, servicing support and diagnostic updates throughout the transition.
A change in distribution
Inchcape says the decision forms part of its ongoing approach to portfolio management, which involves reviewing partnerships against its strategic growth objectives.
Colin Christie, Managing Director, Inchcape Australasia, said the business was proud of its role in introducing DEEPAL to Australian customers.
“We are proud of what we have achieved alongside Changan in establishing DEEPAL in Australia and helping build awareness of the brand with customers,” Christie said.
“Through our partnership, we have shared valuable local market expertise and supported DEEPAL’s successful introduction to the Australian market.”
Christie said Inchcape remained focused on maintaining a portfolio aligned with its growth objectives, thanking Changan for the partnership and wishing DEEPAL continued success.
Changan prepares for the next phase
Bryan Guan, Managing Director, Changan Australia, acknowledged Inchcape’s contribution to establishing the brand and said customer and dealer confidence would be central to the handover.
“On behalf of Changan Australia, we thank Inchcape for its partnership in establishing the DEEPAL brand in Australia,” Guan said.
“We appreciate the team’s professionalism and contribution to building brand awareness and creating a strong foundation for future growth.”
Guan said Changan would manage the change with an emphasis on continuity.
“As DEEPAL enters its next phase in Australia, Changan will manage the transition with transparency, professionalism and respect, ensuring continuity for customers and confidence across the dealer network.”
Inchcape says it remains committed to the local market, with a portfolio covering passenger vehicles, SUVs, utes and trucks, including internal combustion, hybrid and electric powertrains.
