Manheim is running its third EV-only vehicle auction, with 32 vehicles currently consigned and representing potentially outstanding value for dealers or members of the public.
The latest EV auction includes vehicles made by a dozen brands including Tesla, BYD, Hyundai, Kia, Nissan, Volvo, Mercedes-Benz and BMW. Vehicles are located in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide, with Manheim offering transport options to winning bidders.
The majority of the vehicles are aged four years or under, and come from partners including leasing and rental companies, government departments, financiers, and automotive OEMs.
The EV auction is being run as a timed online BidNow event, meaning bids can be placed online between July 21 at 8am and July 24 at 7pm AEST. Visit here for details on how to register, and for further terms and conditions.
Moreover, keep an eye out for more possible EV additions over the weekend.
Successfully selling used electric cars at auction requires a multifaceted approach. While Manheim has electric cars going through the auction lanes every week, dedicated EV auctions like this with dedicated marketing allow the business to potentially reach a different set of potential buyers.
Sales of EVs at public auction this year are up nearly four-fold (270%) this year, albeit off a low base. Momentum builds, and with about 250,000 EVs on the road and many lease and fleet models hitting the three-to-four-year mark, the company is preparing for a further significant uptick.
It’s worth noting that many of the EVs in this latest auction are eligible to be put onto a fringe benefits tax-free novated lease, so long as they never exceeded the luxury car tax threshold and were both held and used after July 2022.
Moreover, the Federal Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water late last year announced it would put funds toward low-interest EV loans for workers earning less than $100,000 a year, as well as essential workers like police officers, teachers, fire fighters and nurses.
The CEFC finance will go to support discounted loans for new and used EVs worth up to $55,000, as well as home EV charging equipment.
