MG Motor has unveiled its latest model for Australian families—the all-new MG HS Hybrid+, combining petrol convenience with electric efficiency in a stylish and accessible SUV priced from $40,990 driveaway.
The HS Hybrid+ delivers strong performance through a 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine paired with the most powerful hybrid e-motor in its class, producing a combined 165kW and 340Nm. It’s supported by a two-speed transmission for smoother power delivery and greater control across real-world driving conditions—ideal for city commutes or open-road escapes.
MG Motor Australia and New Zealand CEO Peter Ciao said the launch marks another milestone in MG’s electrification journey.
“The MG HS Hybrid+ provides a seamless step into electrification, delivering the perfect balance of petrol convenience and electric efficiency,” Ciao said. “With its water-cooled hybrid battery technology and class-leading 146kW e-motor, we’re giving Australian drivers hybrid performance built for local conditions.”
The model introduces exclusive liquid-cooled battery technology, improving heat management by 300% compared with traditional air-cooled systems—particularly important for Australian climates. The result is stronger electric assistance, improved fuel efficiency, and enhanced long-term reliability.
Fuel economy is a standout, with 4.2L/100km (urban) and 5.2L/100km (combined), giving it a clear edge over many rivals. Combined with regenerative braking and advanced thermal management, the HS Hybrid+ keeps operating costs and emissions low without sacrificing driveability.
Inside, the cabin is designed with family comfort in mind—featuring premium materials, wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, a 12.3-inch colour touchscreen, and ample interior space. Boot capacity ranges from 507L to 1484L, making it flexible for everything from school runs to weekend getaways. Externally, 19-inch alloy wheels and a refined body design complete the premium look.
From a fleet or novated-lease perspective, the HS Hybrid+ hits the sweet spot between performance and efficiency. With its affordable entry price, low running costs, and strong residual appeal, it’s an attractive option for business and salary-packaged buyers wanting a hybrid without a premium price tag.
