XPENG has moved to reassure Australian owners that they will continue to receive factory-backed support after formally ending its distributor arrangement with TrueEV Distribution.
XPENG Motors Australia is now the sole operator of the XPENG brand in Australia, with the manufacturer’s local subsidiary taking direct responsibility for customers, warranty support and the growing dealer and service network.
The move represents another step in XPENG’s transition to a factory-backed sales and support model after XPENG ANZ commenced direct Australian operations in April 2026.
Importantly for existing owners, XPENG says customers who purchased vehicles through TrueEV will not be left behind.
“All XPENG customers deserve certainty about who is looking after them,” said Shaun Anthony, National After Sales Manager at XPENG ANZ.
“Every XPENG vehicle in Australia and New Zealand is backed by the factory, and every customer who purchased through TrueEV can now deal with XPENG ANZ directly. If a commitment was made to a customer at the point of sale, send us the details and we’ll work with customers to reach the appropriate outcome.”
Dealer and service network continues to grow
XPENG says its factory-backed dealer network has continued expanding since direct operations commenced, with representation now covering Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia.
The change is significant as newer EV brands work to demonstrate that their Australian presence extends beyond simply selling vehicles.
For fleet operators in particular, confidence in warranty coverage, servicing, parts availability and long-term manufacturer support can be just as important as range, charging performance and purchase price when evaluating a new EV brand.
XPENG is also progressing its participation in Australia’s Motor Vehicle Service and Repair Information Sharing Scheme.
The company signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Australian Automotive Service and Repair Authority in June, with technical onboarding now underway.
Once completed, the arrangement is intended to provide independent repairers with access to service and repair information, giving owners greater choice over where their vehicles are maintained.
Factory-backed approach enters its next phase
XPENG ANZ is a wholly owned subsidiary of XPeng Inc and says the shift to direct operations forms part of its long-term commitment to Australia and New Zealand.
For existing owners, the immediate message from the company is one of continuity: XPENG ANZ is taking responsibility for supporting vehicles already on Australian roads while expanding its own dealer, servicing and customer-care infrastructure.
Customers who purchased through TrueEV and want to confirm warranty coverage or have a previous promotional commitment reviewed can contact XPENG ANZ through its Australian customer-care team.
For a relatively new EV brand building its position in Australia, providing that certainty to existing owners will be an important part of establishing confidence in the XPENG name for the next phase of its local growth.
