XPENG’s new L03 will arrive in Australia with three battery electric variants and a range extended model, giving fleet buyers a choice of powertrains to match different driving patterns.
The PowerX Long Range uses an electric motor to drive the wheels, with a range extender generating electricity for longer journeys. That could make it useful for vehicles that spend most days on regular routes but occasionally travel further. Fleets with predictable daily travel can also consider the battery electric versions, including rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive options.
The range extended model adds an interesting choice for organisations assessing where electric vehicles fit across their operations. Route data will help fleet managers decide which vehicles can rely on regular charging and which need more flexibility.
XPENG has confirmed a seven-year/160,000 km vehicle warranty for commercial use and an eight-year/160,000 km warranty for the traction battery and specified electric drive components. Recommended servicing for the battery electric variants is every 12 months or 20,000 km, whichever comes first.
Battery capacities, driving ranges, charging speeds and energy consumption figures have yet to be announced for Australia. Those figures will help fleets assess the L03’s operational fit and whole-of-life costs when they become available.
