The 2026 Fleet News Group Awards are introducing a new approach to industry recognition by giving the fleet community a direct role in deciding the winners.
Rather than relying entirely on a closed judging process, the awards program has been designed to combine independent judging with industry voting to ensure the winners are recognised by the people who understand fleet operations best — their peers.
The process is intended to create a more transparent, engaging, and meaningful awards program for the Australian fleet industry.
The first stage of the process is now underway, with nominations open across multiple categories including:
- Fleet of the Year
- Safe Fleet of the Year
- Fleet Sustainability Award
- Fleet Technology Award
- Fleet Supplier of the Year.
Nominations close on 30 June 2026.
Once entries close, an independent judging panel will review all submissions and select three finalists in each category based on evidence, operational outcomes, leadership, and innovation.
Those finalists will then be announced in August before the industry voting phase begins.
From August through to the end of September, members of the fleet industry will have the opportunity to vote for the finalist they believe best represents excellence in each category.
Every industry participant will receive one vote per category, creating a process where fleet professionals, suppliers, operators, and stakeholders can actively recognise the organisations making a genuine impact across the sector.
Fleet Managers, transport operators, suppliers, consultants, and service providers work closely together every day, giving the industry unique insight into which organisations are leading the way in safety, sustainability, technology, customer service, and operational excellence.
By opening the voting process to the broader industry, the awards provide finalists with something more valuable than a traditional trophy — recognition from the people they work alongside and support.
The process also creates greater visibility for finalists.
Once announced, finalists will be promoted across the Fleet News Group network during the voting period, giving organisations an opportunity to showcase their achievements and engage with the broader fleet community.
The awards are designed to celebrate practical leadership and measurable outcomes rather than simply rewarding marketing campaigns or large organisations.
That means fleets of all sizes are encouraged to nominate.
Whether it is a local government fleet improving safety outcomes, a logistics operator reducing emissions, a corporate fleet implementing new technology, or a supplier delivering outstanding customer support, the awards are intended to recognise the organisations driving the industry forward.
The live voting process will also add transparency to the program, with vote tallies displayed during most of the voting period before being hidden in the final weeks to build anticipation ahead of the awards presentation event.
For organisations considering a nomination, Fleet News Group says the opportunity extends beyond winning.
Becoming a finalist provides recognition, industry exposure, and validation from peers across the Australian fleet sector.
Most importantly, it gives organisations the opportunity to have their achievements recognised by the people who truly understand the challenges and complexity of fleet management.
Nominations for the 2026 Fleet News Group Awards close on 30 June, with finalists announced in August and winners revealed at the awards presentation event in Sydney on 14 October 2026.
