MG Motor Australia has expanded its electric vehicle lineup with the launch of the new MGS6 EV, a mid-sized SUV designed to offer families a combination of long driving range, premium features and strong performance at a competitive price point.
The new MGS6 EV arrives as MG’s latest battery electric SUV and is available in two variants. The rear-wheel drive Essence starts from $49,990 drive-away, while the all-wheel drive Essence is priced from $56,990 drive-away.
The launch strengthens MG’s growing EV portfolio, which now spans everything from entry-level hatchbacks through to premium electric SUVs and performance vehicles.
According to Dimitri Andreatidis, Marketing Director at MG Motor Australia, the MGS6 EV completes the brand’s most comprehensive EV range to date.
“This year has been a milestone for MG, with the MGS6 EV marking our third all-electric launch in 2026 so far and completing our most comprehensive EV lineup to date,” said Andreatidis.
“At a time when cost-of-living pressures are shaping household decisions, we’re proud to offer Australians genuine choice.”
For fleet buyers and novated lease customers, the MGS6 EV enters one of the fastest-growing vehicle segments in Australia, offering a blend of practicality, range and technology that is becoming increasingly important as more organisations transition towards lower-emission vehicles.
Built on MG’s dedicated EV platform, the MGS6 EV offers impressive performance figures. The dual-motor AWD variant produces 266kW of combined power and accelerates from 0-100km/h in just 5.1 seconds. The single-motor RWD version generates 180kW and completes the same sprint in 7.3 seconds.
Range is another key selling point. The RWD model delivers a claimed WLTP driving range of 530km, while the AWD version offers 485km. Both variants support DC fast charging, allowing a battery charge from 10 to 80 per cent in approximately 38 minutes when connected to a suitable 150kW charger.
MG has also equipped both variants with a heat pump, adjustable regenerative braking and One Pedal Mode to improve efficiency and maximise real-world driving range.
For fleets that require occasional towing capability, the MGS6 EV is rated to tow up to 1,500kg braked and 750kg unbraked.
Dimensionally, the MGS6 EV sits firmly in the medium SUV category, measuring 4,708mm long, 1,912mm wide and 1,664mm high. Suspension consists of MacPherson struts at the front and a multi-link rear arrangement, while 20-inch alloy wheels are fitted as standard.
Inside, MG has focused heavily on comfort and practicality. The cabin features heated and ventilated front seats trimmed in vegan leather and suede, heated outer rear seats, ambient lighting and an 11-speaker premium audio system with subwoofer.
Storage space is generous, with a 581-litre rear cargo area expanding to 1,690 litres when the rear seats are folded. The rear-wheel drive model also includes an 86-litre front storage compartment, while the all-wheel drive variant offers a 67-litre frunk.
Technology features include a 12.8-inch central touchscreen paired with a 10.25-inch digital instrument display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 50W wireless phone charging, voice control functionality and MG’s iSmart connected vehicle platform are all standard.
Safety has also been a priority, with the MGS6 EV equipped with MG Pilot driver assistance technologies. Features include Adaptive Cruise Control, Active Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Detection and a 360-degree camera system. Drivers can also customise and save preferred safety settings using the MG Pilot Custom function.
From an ownership perspective, MG continues to offer one of the more comprehensive warranty programs in the market. The MGS6 EV is backed by a seven-year unlimited-kilometre warranty, with the opportunity to extend coverage to up to 10 years or 250,000km through MG’s Service Activated Warranty program.
With pricing positioned below many established electric SUV rivals while offering long range, strong performance and a high level of standard equipment, the MGS6 EV is likely to attract interest from private buyers, novated lease customers and fleet operators seeking a practical electric SUV without moving into premium-brand territory.
