GAC is expanding its Australian footprint with the launch of the new EMZOOM Premium, adding a more accessible specification to its compact SUV range while retaining a strong list of technology, safety and convenience features.
The Premium joins the existing EMZOOM Luxury as GAC builds its presence in the Australian new-car market. Both variants are backed by a seven-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty.
Power comes from a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 125kW and 270Nm, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and front-wheel drive.
Combined fuel consumption is listed at 6.6L/100km, with the EMZOOM measuring 4410mm long, 1850mm wide and 1600mm high. It rides on a 2650mm wheelbase and offers 341 litres of luggage space with the rear seats in place, expanding to 1271 litres when they are folded.
For an entry-level variant, the EMZOOM Premium carries a substantial technology package.
A 14.6-inch central touchscreen is standard, along with a seven-inch digital instrument display, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, passive entry and start and a six-speaker audio system.
The cabin also features artificial leather upholstery, a six-way manually adjustable driver’s seat, automatic climate control with rear air vents and a leather multifunction steering wheel.
Driver assistance is another key part of the specification.
Standard features include adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, integrated cruise assist and high-beam assist.
A reversing camera and rear parking sensors are also included, while the Luxury variant adds a 360-degree camera, front parking sensors, blind-spot view and automatic parking.
Other standard equipment on the Premium includes 17-inch wheels, rain-sensing wipers, LED automatic headlights, LED daytime running lights, electrically adjustable exterior mirrors and a temporary spare tyre.
Moving to the Luxury brings a broader convenience package including a panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate, 18-inch wheels, electrically adjustable and ventilated driver’s seat, wireless phone charging and electric hidden door handles.
The arrival of the EMZOOM Premium adds another model to an increasingly competitive compact SUV segment and gives Australian buyers a clearer look at how GAC intends to position itself locally — with high levels of standard technology and driver assistance across the range.
It also reflects the growing influence of newer Chinese automotive brands in Australia, where generous equipment lists and strong warranty coverage are increasingly being used to attract buyers away from established manufacturers.
